Detroit's buzz is decent for a R rated drama, I think it might surprise

I think it will too and make around the same as Zero Dark Thirty, which did $95M (which would be amazing for a first release from a new distributor). August looks like it'll be a great month for specialty type films (Wind River, Ingrid Goes West, Logan Lucky).

I think Detroit and The Hitman's Bodyguard will do good business. Anabelle Creation should do decent numbers for a horror sequel.

The lack of a break out hit in August will bode well for It.

Yeah, there's definitely room for a couple of breakouts this August (if modest). Especially since I think The Dark Tower is fixing to disappoint.

The Dark Tower should do okay but I can't help but think it's going to slaughtered by the critics.

It might seem like a strange comparison but I see a Where the Wild Things Are type run for it. A decent sized opening but a quick fall. It seems like I always see comments from fans of the book saying it doesn't look how they pictured.

Dark Tower is one of those movies that can't decide who the audience is?

It tries to appeal to the Dark Tower fans, families, and minorities and in the  process alienates them all.

Flop Tower

I don't know man, as a fan of the books I'm still hopeful because I can feel that Stephen King himself seem hyped for it. Trailers were fine too.

Regarding the minority comment, I only have one story worry regarding his race change and his relationship to one character cause of it but that is not even relevant to this first movie anyway as that character won't appear in it so that's moot for now. I think Elba fits the gunslinger character very well otherwise.

But yeah, outside of a few like me there doesn't seem to be much hype for it. We'll see I guess.

All superhero movies pretty much get strong social media hype

Both GOGT2 and WW were below 1 million cumulative conversations days before their release

Pulse:

1. WW

2. Cars 3

3. Transformers

4. All eyes on me

5. Transformers 3d

Very poor for robots, especially if we bear in mind that movie will start tomorrow. Paramount needs a big jump in nearest hours.
