The fact that it had lack luster legs and WB never made a sequel is proof. An A- Cinemascore means nothing when it comes to fanboy movies.

I have this pegged for a $55M opening for next weekend. Green Lantern's adjusted opening ($61M) feels like the ceiling with the buzz it has.

The Venom marketing to date does feel like the Deadpool marketing but without the 100% commitment to the bit.

 

Like this commercial if done with Deadpool would have probably had Ryan Reynolds actually show up at the ESPN offices

May be the studio didn't think it made enough money, that has nothing to do with audience perception.

 

The data clearly shows the audience enjoyed it more than the critics, thats the question you asked, I gave an answer.

Tom Hardy doing a McGregor autobiography sounds infinitely more interesting. Considering, Bronson and Warrior were his breakout roles for international audiences.
