50 Shades was bad material down to the bone, blaming the screen writer or Sam Taylor-Johnson is wrong. I will not judge their talent based on that adaptation.

I don't care about her writing skills, i'm more concerned on how Sony is suppose to churn this out next October when she's currently rewriting the film.

Biggest red flag about this (besides being a Venom spin-off lol) is the director. I still like Zombieland but Fleischer's last two are amongst the most god-awful studio movies that got released this decade. They are not just bad, they are horrible and they also had great casts.

Gangster Squad is one of the few movies I could remember seeing where you could have a legitimate case of pressing charges against it for wasting such an overqualified cast.

30 minutes or less was just as bad. The cast didn't have the same pedigree but it was great for the kind of action comedy they were going for but it still was painful to watch.

 

And it's not like Zombieland was a horrible movie that briefly tricked us that it's good. I re-watched it a few months ago, and even if some feel it was overrated in its time, it remains a fun and enjoyable movie. I don't know what happened to this guy.

I've done my best to block out the shittiness of 30 Minutes or Less.

I won't put much stock in the names of director and writer.

Campbell's stock and risen after Casino Royale and we ended up with GL.

Terrio's writing was supposed to do magic with BVS because of Argo.

 

So far everything about VENOM has been good (casting, R-rated, hints at movies like THE THING) or acceptable (writer, director). No red flags*.
