Huh? Its doing fine on the critic front. 71% isnt bad.

Which is actually 6.5/10 average, if you discount the RT weighted-upward averaging system.  Among top critics its worse, being a 62% or 6.1 average.

With user scores at 56% and top critics at 62%, everyone seems to be much closer in agreement on this one than they were on TLJ.  Basically a mediocre film, critically speaking.

Justice League OS > Solo WW?

JL OS was 429

If Solo OS-China shows a 55% drop from RO OS-China it does 204.5 OS-China (454.5*0.45).

Add 15.5 in China for 204.5 + 15.5 = 220 OS

Then <229 Dom will take Solo WW below JL OS. If Solo's gonna do 2.65x the FSS then ~86.5 FSS gives 229 dom.

If the Friday is 32-33 then it's possible but if it's 35-37 then thinking no.

Very long time lurker, very infrequent poster... Just wanted to say what Disney is doing with Solo is exactly how WB did long term damage with their branding of DC. You are seeing this with the mediocre Solo numbers. The audience reaction to TLJ was so bad, it has made viewers not want to see Solo based on reputation alone. Similar to BvS being so horrible that fans stayed away from JL even though IMO it was the better movie. IMO this will impact DC branded movies for a long time just as future Star Wars movies are going to have lower box office numbers. By pushing out mediocrity, you do damage to your brand, damage that will be nearly impossible to fix long term. Star Wars has always been a proven money maker, I fear doing annual movies like this will cost Disney a lot of money long term for short term profits....Not smart at all.

You are absolutely right but the spin for TLJ and Disney is so immense I have seen it  being pushed that Han Solo just isn't as popular of a character / or a weak 1 dimensional character that is only good as a side note.

the in crowd for whatever reason will do everything else, burn the fandom, disrespect Lucas, ridicule the OT before they admit TLJ was not liked.

Disney's first and only priority must be to ensure that SW9 is good enough that it doesn't drop much from SW8  because that's a realistic possibility. Star Wars franchise will survive a Solo flop but it can't survive a SW9 failure.

Anyone think Disney is going to make a course correction for Episode 9 and future spin offs or are they going to make like The Titanic? (Talking about the ship not the movie)

Is Pope Francis Catholic?

Of course they will make course corrections. They make mistakes, like everybody else, but no one has accused Disney management of being stupid....

I don't see a scenario in which Episode IX doesn't decrease from Last Jedi. What do they have that could bring in more people? The original trio are all gone.

The current big disadvantage Solo has compared to RO, TLJ etc is that it does not have Christmas weekdays in Europe. TFA, RO, TLJ etc had 2nd and 3rd weekends which were almost equal to the first weekend or minimal drops. So even if Solo opens to half of RO everywhere, it will drop back to 30-40% of RO by the time the run ends, and it also has Jurassic World coming in less than 2 weeks everywhere apart from the US killing any potential legs it might have had.

But according to people here, Episode 9 is guaranteed to increase like ROTJ and ROTS so thy have nothing to worry about

One aspect it does prove is that Star Wars is not the MCU. The MCU, though it's a franchise, in practice is more like a collection of related franchises. Star Wars is one single franchise and series, and the spin-offs haven't changed it. So they need to cool it with the yearly releases.

I would bet we see Luke do the "Ghost in the Force" routine....

i thought CNN was trying to shake their fake news image

They'd have to get rid of all opinion pieces... in fact all news websites would need to get rid of this aspect to get rid of fake news.  Don't see this happening.
