This feels so much like The Good Dinosaur, a director switch midway through, a promo campaign which was good but nothing memorable, reviews basically saying "It's fine and fun" and the final leg of marketing being overshadowed by marketing for another of the studio's tentpoles. Let's see if the box office turns out the same way.

The promo campaign wasn't good though. It's Disney's worst marketing campaign since John Carter. Maybe even worse.

Woah. Never really thought of that comp. Not to mention a studio “Pixar/Lucasfilm” that was previously thought to be untouchable at the box office

The world is rejecting a Star Wars movie like if it is Transformers 5 or Justice League. The thinkpieces being written about Star Wars fatigue will be amazing to read on Monday.

I do wonder why Disney bothers with Memorial Day, it hasn't worked for them for a long time.

There simply wasn't enough of a gap between TLJ and Solo.
