The hate for Vice on this site is fairly inexplicable. Awesome movie, minus the fact that one scene in the first 30 minutes seems literally spliced in from later in the movie? Anyways, great shit, and something that people NEED to see and understand.

I really did like it, I don’t want it to seem like I hated it or anything from my short review.

My complaints aren’t really about the movie’s messaging, more that I found the narration to be a drag on the movie as a whole.

I said it weeks before it came out and I’ll say it again. Bumblebee didn’t need to set the box office on fire. What it needed to do was show audiences that the Transformers franchise is headed in a new/different direction. I won’t trash Bay’s Transformers as he made it into a billion dollar franchise. But when you’ve got a franchise like Transformers, it’s important every now and then to switch things up so audiences stay engaged with the franchise and it doesn’t turn into a sinking ship that can’t be saved. It seems like they were able to reboot the Transformers franchise without much of a hiccup and that’s all that matters in my opinion. We shall see if it pays off for sure with the sequels.

It’s funny that in a Box Office forum people forget so often the business side of the Industry  and it cutthroat nature for embellished naive words.

Bumblebee doing less than $300M Worldwide will be seen as a utter failure. There’s no going around it. Optics are key in the industry and a Transformer movie failing  to reach the $300M  mark is horrible for everyone involved.

As disappointed as I was with Bumblebee, it's still miles and miles better than Bay's movies, so I am hoping they continue in this direction - I just hope Paramount don't take this result badly and revert to Bay shenanigans.

Yea it’s def a step in the right direction for them. I didn’t want to trash the Bay Transformers films quality wise because I did enjoy the first two a lot and obviously there was an audience for them. Having said that, it was clear the franchise needed to go into a new direction and it feels like Bumblebee did that but let’s hope the folks over at Paramount don’t act like some folks on this forum and take its box office results the wrong way. When it comes to rebooting a franchise, it takes time but if done right, it’ll be worth it.

I never understood the huge expectations for Mary Poppins when the remake of Cinderella, one of the most iconic princess and famous animation classic did "only" 550 M. I think Snow White, Cruelia, Dumbo, Pinocchio, The Lady and the tramp will do around these numbers (550-650 M, maybe a 700 peak). Alice was at the peak of the 3D age, the first live action of the recent series and with Johnny Depp and Tim Burton in their golden age as movie couple (the sequel was a flop!) while The jungle book is more an action movie and it was really an innovation for the special effects.

For the old school disneyan fables people have too much expectations, the children of their time are all almost dead after all 😂.  The 90's classics like the little mermaid, the lion king and aladdin are the ones surely in the 1 Billion+ club. I always seen Mary Poppins with no more than 600 M worldwide.

Yeah. I still think the first one is pretty close to what I always wanted from a TF movie - I needed about 25% less shouting and 20% more cohesion in the action, but that's pretty good as far as Bay goes. BB has well-shot action, but there's little of it, small in scale and I think the VFX just don't look right. I also think that while it's nice they spent SO MUCH on the relationship between girl and machine, it still came across as a poor copy of much better movies. As I said, though, it's an improvement, especially compared to the last couple of Bay's movies. I'd be happy for the same team to do an Optimus Prime movie.

You do realize that before this super hero craze hit, there were several origin CBM that did like $300M. I’m sure their studios didn’t see them as box office failures as they all got sequels. I’m sure you’ve heard of Batman Begins, right? And Captain America The First Avenger?

Its a great thing that the Internet when those films came out isn’t like it is today because those films would be considered bombs/flops by your standards and who knows if we get sequels to them because of overreactions that are unnecessary.

Rich coming from someone who has demonstrated no clue about how box office really works.

That is also why I guess Oscar members never actually take superhero film seriously.

Because all the good hype, if there is, were all washed away but those annoying fanbase who always angry with anything that go SLIGHTLY against them......

WB and Paramount are 2 very different studios. Paramount rebooted the franchise after  TLK pulled in $600M meanwhile WB went ahead with Aquaman after JL pulled $600M.

Also so why are people so emotional on here. Are we supposed to just list numbers and says “everyone is doing fine” without any insight? Jesus.

Well, yeah. It’s the one active franchise that’s all about “family.”

also if we wanna talk about inclusion, i can't think of another franchise that puts bald men in the spotlight like those movies do. people like @MrPink need heroes too.
