It’s not really hypocrisy, there weren’t anywhere near as many $400m predictions for Aquaman as there were $300m+ for Poppins. 

 

Mary Poppins is not a flop by any stretch of the imagination, it’s just done less than most people expected (so far).

Don’t remember that but I do remember their attempt at another Lord of the Rings (2007’s The Golden Compass) killed them as a stand-alone studio and led to them being absorbed into WB.

Also the overseas numbers are a nightmare and the China opening weekend predictions went from $70M 3 weeks ago out to mid $40’sM one  week out. These numbers are not good the movie is struggling.
