Upside, Escape Room and Dogs Way Home have done well.

However we’ve also had Replicas, King and Serenity.

No one has been mentioning it, but Replicas is a disaster for the history charts, it’s third weekend number hasn’t even been reported, it lost 96% of its locations and had one of the top 10 worst second weekend drops of all time. Wow.

The Kid Who Would Be King flopped, $2k pta. What were they thinking putting this in 3500 cinemas, it looked so unappealing.

Because it actually turned out to be a great kids movie and a fun time. Fox butchered up the marketing by making it seem awful just like WB last year with Paddington 2.

Feels like there hasn't been a movie with as big of disconnect between awards groups and critics/audiences as Vice since Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, which also saw no boost from its nominations. It won't cross $50M at this point even if Bale or Adams (or both) wins.

Difference is WB got Paddington last minute and had to scramble a marketing plan in mere weeks. Meanwhile Fox has way more than a year to come up with a decent marketing campaign.
