He's said before he doesn't like the kind of movies the MCU makes, big budget superhero films with big CGI fight scenes. It's one of the reasons he wanted more creative freedom on Logan, so the third act of Wolverine 2 wouldn't happen again

Logan was oh so creative.

A western !

A manhunt !

A force of nature protecting a child & becoming its parent.

Never seen that.

Ever.

Strip down as much as elements as you can that would make you think you are watching a superhero movie.

Imagine the horror if people thought Logan was a superhero movie.

Incredible creativity on display in Logan.

Yay for creative freedom !

Y'all talking about Mangold staying in business with Disney/Fox after FvF "for MCU movies probably"... I'm telling y'all, The Force is coming. It will get greenlit after this. The writer of the book was basically saying on his twitter if FvF does well, we'll get to see The Force. Gonna read the book if and when it gets greenlit

Is this Disney too?

Seriously, this is the worst post, ever.

By those standards, Parasite is a boring, uncreative piece of crap. Foreign language tone-changer on class and family issues with a couple twists? Been done a million times. Who would bother with such a yawner?

FvsF is generic but entertaining. No edge. It's a movie your teacher shows you in history class on the Friday before a long weekend.

Waves on the other hand is exhilarating filmmaking...until it peters out toward the end. A shame because that first half is really something.

Creative freedom circa 2020 :

-Fucking Being fucking allowed to fucking curse a fucking lot, bro.

-Blood !!! Gritty violence ! So Mature !

- All of your characters are depressed, no colors, world you are showing is bleak/grey/brown-ish.

- Events happen mostly at night.

- Movie is slow and boring with looooooooong shots.

- Quips are cancer, humor ? What s that ?

- Your subtext is marxism for the dumb/101

&/or

indentiy politics

(from people who live in 10m$ mansions)

- Everything is grounded, say no to human imagination and ingenuity & world building.

Your are xeroxing something from the real world : a time, a place, a clothe etc

- ME-TA-PHORS. So brilliant !

- You are not making a genre movie, god forbids !

Repeat it during your press tour.

You re making

A

R
T

A statement on the world.

- CGI makes you nauseous.

I just love creative people, they expand the mind & the soul on a daily basis.

sucks to see the demolition of Charlie's Angels.  hopefully the take-down of this franchise was a win for feminists and not a loss

This film reclaims the franchise for women though. Maybe if the marketing had been more clear about that.

But I still think it's mostly because Full Throttle was a weak note to end on for the previous series, the current trio of actresses are either up and comers or in KStew's case, need to have had another franchise under her belt to win back her following + the looming Frozen 2 is overshadowing every other female-led movie in the marketplace right now.

I think it's obvious which ones will be hits and which ones won't be.  MCU and likely DC/WB productions will be hits and probably regardless of quality.  Anything else is a toss up. None of it will have anything to do with "fatigue"..

Some brands are trusted and some characters will always put people in seats.  Others have to sell on the idea that the movie is good.
