$700m/$1.4b is the goal now.

Right now i see it more probable 700M OS than domestic, cause weekly drops are being much better OS, but would be really nice that 1,4 B

So, TGM is basically a Joker with double of the domestic gross.

Best 6th weekends of all time in history:

1. Avatar - 34.94M
2. Top Gun: Maverick - 25.54M
3. Titanic - 25.24M
4. Frozen - 19.58M
5. Black Panther - 17.09M
6. Frozen II - 16.89M
7. The Sixth Sense - 16.51M
8. Mrs. Doubtfire - 16.35M
9. Jumanji: WTTJ - 16.14M
10. Toy Story - 15.59M

Four of these films were released in the 1990s which is an eternity in box office years:

Titanic - 1997

The Sixth Sense - 1999

Mrs. Doubtfire - 1993

Toy Story - 1995

If ticket prices were higher, there undoubtedly would be some films from the 80s on this list. Tommy C. is doing his best to revive the legs of films back to the 80s and 90s.

what drop does Maverick need next weekend to stay on track for 700m?

It can make do with 40% drop. This week looks like ~43M (-8%). 40% drop for the next week and 20% drops for the subsequent weeks are enough for ~705M. Of course, this is without accounting for LDW expansion.

700m is more probable than not. The question is when. Does it need a big LD push, does it need a re-release? Either way Paramount will land it there. If it holds up well against Thor and Love and Thunder gets a mixed WoM, it's getting IMAX back sooner, then I'd say it's pretty much a lock.

Great weekend for Minions. Excellent having another $100m+ opener.

Top Gun obviously still insane. Solid for Jurassic World, Elvis and Black Phone too. Lightyear will be on the “bombs of 2022” lists at the end of the year.

So who say Summer can't produce a leggy run now?

Also, this weekend box office produce $190m gross. Third best of 2022 and probably the most diverse set of movies since Covid-19. Next week the number will top 200m, as long as Thor 4 come in around 150m and Minion 2 doesn't drop like Lightyear.

its easy to forget that Jumanji 2 made 400m and was like a mini Top Gun Maverick being a throwback to 80s l/90s style tunes. Surprised Jake Kasdan hasn’t been hired to make another blockbuster

Imagine of TG2 had China and Russia. Oh, the possibilities....
