Marvels is probably kaput but two weeks should be good enough for Wish to promote its "human element", especially since the songs are already becoming semi-popular

Marvels is pretty much done. A major box office underperformance will use the strike handicapping its entire promo tour as the cover. Though they might send Brie and the others out to surprise unsuspecting folks at theaters over the weekend for some positive press.

"Abort, abort. This crowd doesn't like the film. Get out of there. We'll try again at the next showing!"

I think Marvels, if it does bomb, would have bombed if there was no strike.

That's such a relief, next year was starting to look so thin for movies and TV, plus the prospect of so many workers spending Christmas in such an uncertain manner sucked, I'm glad that's not happening.

Well, in the US we still have that spectre because of the looming Government SHutdown which seems pretty much a given at thsi point.

NOT THE MARVELS THREAD — BUT TO KEEP IT ON TOPIC:

There are degrees of bombage. If the strikes actually materially affected the quality of the movie, which is absolutely plausible if not likely, then yes it could be a contributing factor.  So too could the compete lack of The Marvel Hype Machine for months

The idea that an industry crippling pair of strikes didn't have the potential to have a major thumb on the scale for something like The Marvels is...

Maybe we're talking the difference between under-performance and nukes away, but I tend to think that folks who cite the strikes absolutely have more to be right about than not.

Joaquin Phoenix hates the press so they might keep him on the sidelines for the Napoleon junkets anyway

Did he do any publicity for Joker? I think Vanessa Kirby might be easier to send out for press and interviews.

And Cillian Murphy, the Universal publicists are going push him to do Oscar campaign stuff like schmoozing at industry parties and hosting SNL during the voting window. He had it so great as a Best Actor frontrunner who didn't have to make any media appearances for months, now the strike is over and here comes Bradley Cooper with the steel chair.

Rachel Zegler had that fire Katniss dress all ready for the premiere and she was just one up-and-comer under an interim agreement. The A-listers and their stylists are about to cook!
