Transformers: The Last Knight | 6/21/2017 | Big Budget, Weak OW?

Recommended Posts

Just from a numbers perspective, Transformers should not want to be like the Fast and the Furious franchise. Transformers has 3 films (I think there have only been four total) that are among the top 200 domestic adjusted films of all time. Fast and the Furious has one (Furious 7) out of seven films among the top 200 domestic adjusted films of all time. Whatever Transformers is doing domestically, it is doing it much better than The Fast and the Furious films.

It is, and the 14 year old girl Bay thinks is some great actress is absolutely terrible.  She is even worse in actual extended scenes.

Michael Bay never figured out what the Fast and Furious franchise did, and that is as you go along you start having more fun.  Transformers has done the complete opposite and went from having fun to start the series to now so over the top serious it is unwatchable.

I dunno, the 4th one was pretty hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

It is because there is never any actual emotional weight to it.  His directing and set up and scripts he shoots from are so reliant on the actors telling you how emotional they feel instead of building it up and getting the audience invested.  Nothing ever feels at stake even though everyone is screaming about how they are saving the world.  Hey, another robot fight with shit flying everywhere but who cares.

He was much better at it when he was a younger director.  There are scenes in movies like Bad Boys, The Rock and even Armageddon that have real emotional weight to them.  Now it is Mark Whalberg breathing heavy in slow motion waiting for someone to yell cut and go to craft services to grab a shake while CGI inserts 50 faceless fighting robots into a shot.

I disagree with everything u said here.

The Shay honestly considers the Transformers series to be one of the few things that - if tomorrow a meteorite shower erases humans from the face of the planet - would have made us deserve such fate.

If one needs proof that the human race is irredeemably dumb - he needs not look further than this Bay-spawned shitstain of a franchise.

Fast and Furious has increased with each subsequent film since the rebooted 4th film.  They likely won't increase on this one due to no tragedy to center around, but anyone who thinks Transformers is doing better at this point domestically than Fast and Furious, not sure what to say to that.  One of them keeps declining dramatically and the other one has increased steadily.

The first one was the most popular domestic blockbuster of 2007 and was far better received than Pirates 3, Shrek 3 and Spiderman 3.

Add the fact it was one of the best sellers of all time for a non animatied film on DVD as well with I believe nearly 18+ million copies sold.

I know to many TF has become a joke but I think we all forget how crazy we all got for the film during the summer of 2007, people went nuts lol

Fate of the Furious might drop over 100m from F7. Guess they should stop making them.

TF films are doing fine. Only way they can get a big increase if they take a long break like Jurassic Park

Terrible post.

I honestly think the world needs more dumb fun in their movies and less pretentiousness. Half the population is so wound up tight that it would help.

They're just movies. 2+ hours of entertainment. That's all they're supposed to be.

Neither should stop making them and they both make a profit, it is one of them I think should actually try and make them good.  The other one figured out how to do that, so hopefully finally getting rid of Michael Bay and getting a more competent director might help.

Meh, there's more than enough dumb shit in today's blockbusters. I'd take something with a little more seriousness any day.

What does that even mean, they are just movies? Shindler's List is also just a movie. Entertainment is more than just laughing at stupid jokes. I can be entertained by feeling sadness or suspense.
