If I remember rightly I heard there was some sort of plan to have the 4th or 5th film in the franchise finally be the remake of the original POTA but told from the perspective of the Apes dealing with a strange human visitor from space.

Anyone seen the oldschool PoTA movies? I watched all of them awhile back and I gotta admit the only one that was good was the first one, it all went downhill after that.

After the second one I never bothered with the others. Over the years I've seen a few scenes here and there though.

They budgets got slashed and slashed on the original's, but I enjoy most of them. First one is a masterpiece I think. The rest are ok .

battle is the only one i don't like. conquest is especially good.

Watched Dawn today. Thought it was great. It is all too rare to see a summer blockbuster that so deftly combines maturity and thoughtfulness with thrills and visual spectacle.

 

8.5/10

 

Btw, I'm kind of shocked it didn't win best visual effects.

Yep, Weta Digital not getting an Oscar for those stunning Apes is a disgrace.

 

ILM loosing for the first Transformers, which was a landmark date in visual effects history, for the ugly AF bears of that Nicole Kidman movie was even more  a disgrace.

 

I guess Bay is really hated in the Hills.
