I don’t see legs being anything spectacular. This is an IP sequel now. I don’t even think it will have TFA legs. Basically what I’m expecting is a bigger version of Frozen 2.

It's still Jim, still spectacle cinema at its finest, and still has the revolutionary tech angle (at least for A2) so I think we may yet see something special (again).

Seems like Avatar 2's release date is starting to be officially confirmed in a number of overseas markets.

Lots of tweets recently about a December 14 release date in France, and a December 16 release date in India.

Do you think this will get a trailer at the Super Bowl next month?

Apparently NBC which holds the exclusive rights for the upcoming Super Bowl is asking for $6.5 million for a 30 second spot. I really doubt that Disney is going to pay that kind of $$ to promote a movie that's being released in Dec. Too far away imo.

I would buy into the idea that they will re-release Avatar for a limited engagement and tack on a 3-5 or 10 minute "first glimpse" trailer of Avatar II at the end of the movie before launching their online campaign, it would give them an idea of the general publics' appetite for the sequel and provide them with a guide towards how aggressive they need to be with the marketing. If the re-release only generates $5 million or less at the domestic box over a single weekend, they have a problem. The panic will set in big time, if the reverse happens the marketing machine will crank to 200%.

Its a good thing Disney can just put this on Disney+ next winter when the annual super variant arrives

The chance of that happening (Disney + exclusive) is 0.000000000000000% these movies are costing about $250 million each.

I wouldn't count on it, it's rare that any movie gets a Super Bowl ad with a date nearly a year out.

The Superbowl ads are not the big things for Movies like they used to be. Most studios have backed off the number of Superbowl ads they used to . I note most movie ads are in the post and pregame shows, which are less expensive then ads during the Bowl itself.
