Quote

Warner Bros. is going a day earlier with its Steven Spielberg movie Ready Player OneInstead of opening on Good Friday March 30, which has always been a rich day in recent years with the Fast and Furious franchise as well as Warner Bros.’ own Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the studio is opening the Amblin release a full day earlier on Thursday March 29. Typically, on Thursday night, big movies get their start anyway. This means that Ready Player One will be available as early as matinees.

Kind of makes sense with schools and offices letting out really early or even being on break for Good Friday. Instead of starting 5pm shows or something, just take the full day.

Wonder if they'll be Wednesday night previews? I assuming there will be.

It does sound like WB is confident it'll be a hit if they're moving it up a day hence making a five day opening including Easter Monday. I think Indiana Jones 4 opened on a Thursday as well.

I really don't think she's alone. Been saying for awhile that the marketing has zero female appeal. Gonna be a problem if true.

The zero female appeal likely won't hurt it, many films are male skewing and that doesn't hurt their grosses like Fast and Furious or any superhero film.

Fast and Furious is a family franchise.
