BABY DRIVER | Sony | From Director Edgar Wright | On Digital HD 9/12, DVD and Blu-Ray 10/10

Recommended Posts

Everything about this screams potential. And I've liked every single Wright movie to this day (Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim are among my favorite comedies ever, actually).

It absolutely should've stayed in August if it wanted to get really good box office, but since Despicable Me 3 plays to a different audience, it can still breakout through great wom (it does have to deal w/The House, though).

kind of my take too.  Just going by the trailers, this looks really bad.  Now the reviews probably won't get me to see it in the theater, but good to know this may be a decent flick for when I see on blu ray or cable.

Are they really that surprising?

The Cornetto Trilogy is 89-92% on RT and Scott Pilgrim is 81%.

You might not think it looks that good, but he's a critical darling.

The only reason I ever had 1% of worry in my mind through the years about this one is because surely something he makes won't be any good. Fuck me was I happy when the reviews came out and continues his ridiculously good streak. How anyone could have completely written off the movie as trash based on the trailer though... what the hell, you guys need to look up the people behind this stuff first.

Absolutely blown away. This is pretty much flawless - so much fun, so kinetic - just picks you up from the opening scene and does not let go. La La Land (with source music) meets Fury Road would be how I'd describe it.

Cast - Ansel is surprisingly good, but it's the supporting cast: James, Spacey, Foxx, Hamm, Gonzalez - that steal the show. Such a feel good story and feeling walking out, some moments that you need a huge packed out crowd for, and just...ahh, again, absolutely flawless piece of action genre cinema.

9/10
