Animation is ace and Old Spiderman and Cop Dad are standouts. They completely upstage new Spiderman.

I find it great when studios do different things with CGI, this looks very comic booky.

Too much competition. Bumblebee and Mary Poppins will cut into its family market and Aquaman and unstoppable juggernaut Deadpool PG-13 into comic book one.

hopefully it wins Best Animated over projected winner Incredibles 2 (which wasn't as good as the first and people will start admitting soon). Animation is insanely great.

My problem is that I really doubt the potential of an animated movie aimed squarely at boys.

I always thought that girls were more receptive to movies aimed at boys than boys to movies aimed at girls. I think it'll be fine from that POV but it's competition that it's too direct. we'll see. After all, this movie also cuts into audience of its competition and holiday season allows everyone to do well.

Looks like a great film and a fun time at the movies but it’s gonna be buried underneath the competition. Also I’m sure that people prefer the live action Spider-Man movies, what makes you think that this will stand out?

 

Not a flop but it will definitely be the lowest grossing Spidey movie domestically and overseas.

That looks absolutely amazing. That's something I'd make a concentrated effort to see in 3D because I have a feeling it would be beautiful.
