Wow, everyone expected MM2 to be front loaded, but it's crash and burn so far is still shocking.

Because a lot of guys did this to their girlfriends last Friday:

Who really honestly thought Magic Mike 2 would get close to the original or beat it?

Even if WB was expecting 50m, it has always been unrealistic to expect it to outgross the first. Very similar to Ted 2. It's just how much both actually will fall, but it's great because why did either of these need a sequel?

The studio would be crazy not to do a sequel to Ted.

The big head scratcher is Terminator Genesys. After Salvation there wasn't much demand for a Terminator movie.

MM2 under Ted2 and in danger of falling below Max?  Holy moley.  I mean, I know the 4th was going to be a bad day for it, and its already profitable, but holy crap that's awful.

Paramount didn't develop T:G, Skydance did. Paramount's just the distributor.

Yes I know, but Paramount picked up the film, in hopes that it could be a hit.

Considering Paramount also only had to pay 33 percent of the costs, it wasn't a very hard decision for them. Even if Terminator Genisys makes only 100/350 million. Paramount is likely to make all there costs back, who would lose out is David Ellison and Skydance  who put basically 67 percent of the cost. His dad is one of the richest men in the world, so he will be just fine though lol. My guess is if the sequels happen, it's going to depend on Skydance/David Ellison putting up majority of the money again. Because even if Terminator Genisys makes 110/400 million it's still going to take years for it to be profitable with VOD sales, DVD/Blu-Ray, tv rights and merchandise. It would take a lot of belief in this franchise to put up more money for two movies, when you haven't made your money back on the first movie yet. That's why I don't think the sequels will end up happening. Even if Megan/David Ellison, Dana Goldberg are both huge Terminator fan-boys/girls.

Well sure, but it's basically a no-lose situation for them. They didn't have to bankroll everything, and the heavy-lifting was done by others. It's not like they were the ones who started the whole process (in fact, there were competing bids from Universal and (I think) Sony as well.)

Well regardless, Paramount is gonna look silly for announcing dates to the two Terminator sequels, before the film even came out. Like they say, don't count your chickens before they hatch.
