That goes back to Avatar being a visual experience. There was nothing special about its story or dialogue or even the characters honestly. It was all about the visuals on the screen. Avatar is meant to be viewed on the biggest screen possible and in 3d. Thats why it feels so bleh at home on tv or on a computer screen.

 

And that also goes into why it made so much. It was a real cinema event that you just HAD to see in the theater.
