knocks from #1 spot FRI w/ $7.6M in 1st day of natl play. Wknd may reach about $21M w/ promising road ahead.

Was hoping for a 8M+ Friday :(

Me, too. The snowstorm and the theater count affected it. That's still a solid number considering it could have easily been another "Selma".

is headed for so-so $13M bow in U.S. but boasts an early foreign total > $45M

Well this will certainly be the lowest grossing Underworld film domestically, probably 30-35m but it's on it's way to 100m+ WW thanks to OS, so the studio will be satisfied.

i said from day one silence would make zero money. even after seeing it, and loving it, shit is a D cinemascore waiting to happen lmao.

Scorsese will be fine, he's had bigger flops and I suspect not even Paramount or the other studios who are distributing Silence thought it was going to be another Wolf of Wall Street.

Its a shame the Sinatra biopic has stalled as that seems up his street but there's issues with the estate

I doubt the studio will be happy with 100 m WW for Underworld Blood Wars when the last Underworld movie made 160 m WW.

This will probably be the last one.

Uh, how can they not be happy?

They put zero effort into a turd franchise and it still has the audacity to make nearly 100m WW. That's disgusting.

Good. It sucks that the best UW movie RotL was the lowest grossing. Now it won't be.

@CoolioD1 I said on another forum long time ago, that Silence was going to be the most overpredicted movie and than it was going to fail with awards. And I was chased away. Now look who's bombing with awards. Not me. I like Marty and the cast but this is barely anyone's thing. I really don't know who this movie is for. Not even AMPAS.

i'm not too bummed about the sinatra thing being dead. out of all the potential projects on his plate it always seemed the least interesting. devil in the white city is the one he's thinking of doing that intrigues me the most but it seems like he wants to shoot Irishman this year.

i think the movie could still get oscar nominations. at least a directing nod for scorsese. tree of life was ignored by other awards shows but got some oscar love w/ nods. the same section of voters could go for it.
