Black Adam | October 21, 2022 | New Line | Don't worry, it's a hit. Dwayne Johnson says so!

This whole situation is more embarrassing for the journalists throwing a fit over this.

Who gives a shit? Like honestly? Who cares if the Rock says his movie made money?

Bohemian Rhapsody lost money! Men in Black loses money every year! Nothing matters. Good lord, some of these people need to go outside.

Wow, what an weird year for Warner Brothers right? Started off with a bang with The Batman and ended with a whimper with Black Adam. I hope next year is better for them, because it feels like they've been having a rough time after since after The Batman came out.

BA is a disappointment, 100%. I'd even say it flopped internationally. Its domestic tally is healthy, but WW it won't reach 400m. It will finish below Uncharted, Dumbledore and the almighty Sonic 2. That's not what the studio signed up for no matter how many cookies The Rock is trying to sell you. SAN ANDREAS did nearly 500m WW.

They had Dumbledore which flopped and missed $100m. Elvis, Don’t Worry Darling, The Batman, SuperPets will all have made money (I guess). I think that’s it, it was a quiet year for WB after their horrific 2020 & 2021.

Will this even beat Dumbledore worldwide?

Dumbledore had China, it made $29m there and it cost $200m. So Dumbledore is still the bigger flop of the two.

San Andreas did $360M whithout China and Russia.

Yeah I saw this a couple days ago.

It’s a perfectly fine movie to watch on late night TV. The action is fine yet unremarkable. It’s not excessively long. It’s paced in a way where we don’t have long stretches of nothing happening. It’s fine. It’s like a Netflix Original superhero movie.

The flaws are going to be so freaking obvious to critics and people like us on these forums. Like a mechanical failure. I could sit here and list every instance of dialogue, design, and characters ripped off from a Marvel movie. I could discuss why the “anti-hero” moniker for superheroes is simply a marketing ploy to turn popular villains into heroes. I could talk about how the film’s desperation to make Black Adam an “anti-hero” comes across as a way to sell murder to children. The outdated “how do you do fellow kids” skateboarding boy. The often laughable VFX work. The ugly colour palette. The lead being dull as hell. The JSA forced to being lamest supergroup of all time so that BA can look cool by comparison. Hawkmans costume.  I could write a novel about all of these things, but my god in heaven this film isn’t at all that interesting. The Rock exposing himself as Trumpian egomaniacal lunatic is more interesting to discuss than this movie which I guarantee I will not be watching again.

STREAM it on HBO with the family before Christmas (Honestly it’ll be a better time than WW84).

Dumbledore did 405M WW. This one won't even do 400M. It will be on HBO MAX on December 16. It is dead.

Dropping the same day at Avatar: The Way of Water. Talk about taking a massive dump (and walking away without flushing).

And the denials/delusions/meltdown of Johnson would evoke sympathy from me... except he was an egomaniac and a bully to the previous WB regime who greenlit the damn movie in the first place.

Tis karma in play.

How exactly was he a bully?
