So yes this is being presented as an "Early Access" for 4 theatres in Toronto-and people must really be digging a Sing 2, almost 40 percent sold for this special screening.

Selling well on the west coast too for some reason lol

I know the first one was pretty popular, but wow. I wonder if its the very limited early showing being a fear of missing out type thing. Also wonder if this is an experiment to see how well other movies would do this type of thing.

The Megaplex scrapper doesn't wanna work today, so I'm gonna skip those numbers for today and hopefully I can figure what's wrong with it or it resolves itself.

Belfast has indeed only showtimes in 2 of my theaters (Miami and LA) and now 35 sold tickets for Friday (it were 26 yesterday).

Clifford, counted today at 11 am EST for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 68 (7 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
29 (7 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
20 (7 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 0 (3 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 0 (7 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
13 (5 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 22 (7 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 152.

Up 25% since yesterday. Not a big jump but maybe people notice that enough seats are available and there's no need to reserve seats.
Comps (all counted on Thursday for Friday): Dolittle (21.8M OW) had 395 sold tickets in 7 theaters,

Boss Baby 2 (16.0M OW) had 190 sold tickets in 6 theaters

and Paw Patrol (13.1M OW) had 315 sold tickets in 6 theaters.

Two comps point to under 10M (3-day weekend) but the best to ca. 13M (also 3-day weekend).
So judging from my comps the weekend predictions above (12.5M) look a little bit optimistic but with an A Cinemascore it could work.

That would explain why a different/old version of Century Roseville XD hadn't any showtimes scheduled past today (been like this for a couple of weeks now).

*does some searching*

*does even MORE searching*

Ah.  Finally found it, as it wasn't showing up on the geo-search.  No Ghostbusters: Afterlife tickets on sale yet, so no change to the comps.  Just gonna treat this as the same/upgraded theater for all comps since it's within the same general area, just with upgraded amenities.  Hopefully will show up on Fandango soon.

(didn't even realize this was coming, and I'd been searching off and on for news about this as I thought it was weird that the old Century Roseville didn't have any showtimes)

((wonder what they're gonna do with the old property tho...))

===

EDIT:::

One thing about this.  The closing-down-today version of Century Roseville about a half a mile away or so was a old-school style stadium seating theater without luxury recliners or many of the more recent bells and whistles (though it did have an XD screen).  As such it wasn't one of the more trafficked theaters in the region.

Depends on how this new one is received, but if it proves to be popular it might bump up overall ticket sales in the region as WOM spreads about it.  Then again, it might prove to be something of a pressure release valve for some of the theaters nearby, two of which are extremely popular (though for different reasons and not worth going into here).

Something I'll have to keep an eye on going forward.

(and yet another reason why pre-2020 comps will be pretty much worthless locally)

Didn't even realize they dropped the "Century" branding and slapped Cinemark on this new theatre.

There's currently 5 movies set to open the entire week of Christmas (Matrix, Sing 2, The King's Man, American Underdog, A Journal for Jordan). Add in Spider-Man, Nightmare Alley, and West Side Story from the two weeks before and the battle for screen space sure isn't going to be an easy one.

Encanto showtimes are starting to pop up.  6pm previews on the 23rd.

EC previously mentioned that they go on sale on the 16th. So that's gonna be a quick and short run for those who decide to track it.

*notices something*

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City showtimes are also starting to pop up.

3pm start for previews.

(I guess on the bright side at least it's not 2pm or earlier)

Won’t be an easy one… unless it is 👀
