Although even though I have high expectations for Space Jam 2, it could pull an "In the Heights" which had almost no walkups (compared to its presale expectations)...I don't expect that, but they are both HBO Max movies (and ITH was the most recent one), so I've got that in my head for "worst case":)...

I think this appeals to "diverse" audience as well. Lebron almost has 50 million followers on twitter. It should do really well with walkups. I will be surprised if its PS Driven. That is why I think OD will be higher than what charlie is projecting.

The bad reviews for Space Jam 2 probably aren't helping its ticket sales (at least for a real breakout of sorts given its availability to watch at home the same day). Of course I'm not sure anyone expected it to get good reviews in the first place but those who were on the fence will likely just choose to watch it on HBO Max instead of venturing to a theater to spend $10+ on a ticket.

One thing that may help BW is if there are previews tonight to be rolled into the newly opened Ontario theaters.  I'd imagine it would have pretty good sales there for the weekend even with capacity restrictions.

No showtimes tonight in Ontario cause theatres can’t open till tomorrow technically. Unless someone has midnight shows but I haven’t seen any.

 

So far at my big cineplex BW has about 200 seats sold over 13 showtimes for tomorrow. 

 

Spacejam has 101 seats sold for 9 showtimes

Nothing really, I don’t track as much as you guys, I only have numbers from preview nights from like Captain Marvel, EG and FFH, and these movies aren’t close lol. I’ll start keeping track a bit more now.

What theatre would you track? Just so I know I can not do that one when I do my Toronto. When I was doing Toronto precovid I was doing scotia, queensway, Yonge Eglinton, Eglinton town and Yorkdale

Snapshot comparison for final day-of presales for the two horror movies.  ER2 was a little ahead this morning and pulled a little further ahead today.  I'm sure the start time (and thus number of showings) plays a big factor in that, but I don't know what that means in terms of multipliers for predicting a preview.  I would bet that the IM would be lower with so many extra shows though.  My gut says right around 10m for the weekend and a similar number for previews tonight (1.3m)

 

Final check for Roadrunner has 184 sales for tonight.  I'd put it a little over $2m for the weekend.

Forgot about Cruella, so FWIW, a straight up day 2 comp gives 948K. But Cruella was also largely driven by Highlands Ranch early on(over half the sales at this point) and it got added late for Jungle Cruise.

For what it's worth, Space Jam seems to be selling really well at all the Ontario theaters I'm looking at. To be fair, pretty much everything is selling pretty well in the province. Lots of sell-outs given the limited capacity. I could see there being a slight bump this weekend.
