Now, three days away from release, trackers have settled on a $88 to $95 million target from 4,100 plus locations, with Warner Bros. keeping their projections far more conservative at $65-$75 million, which would be comparable to the openings for “Thor” and “Captain America: The First Avenger.

Lots of attendant hyperbole follows but no mention of Captain Underpants

Lmao, Baywatch is going to get dropped fast at my theater; it's already in one of the smallest auditoriums  I'm a little surprised POTC is in the second biggest auditorium instead of WW.

How does the # of screens for CU compare to BB? (if you can remember that is)

Boss Baby had two on its OW: the second biggest for 2D and smallest for 3D, which later got moved up to an average auditorium where GITS 3D was because of how poorly it was performing  Plus, showings of other movies got cancelled to meet demand. On the weekend they have a showing of CU in place of Wimpy Kid's morning show.

It's getting rejected to the smallest theaters around here too. Fully expecting it to be down to 2 shows a day at most theaters (in addition to most of the smaller chains dropping it at the drop of a hat) next weekend followed by a really brutal theater loss on the following frame (the packed June 16 weekend).

Oh yeah, it's definitely a goner by then and will be sharing a screen next weekend with something. A second screen for POTC next weekend would probably make more than Baywatch

WB wants a Friday DHD headline like "WONDERful DC movie blows past expectations, targets 100m+ opening"

The sequel should have Gal Gadot teaming up with Amazing Amy and soon-to-be-EGOT-winner Viola Davis to save the world (and give the latter two something to actually do). $150M+ opening guaranteed. Batman and Superman can go brood on some island elsewhere.

Silly Tele. You know Deadline doesn't change the tracking or projections for films until way later. The headline will remain "Wonder Woman eyes wonderful $90M opening after $20M in Thursday previews!"

Baywatch plays well at night, which few family movies do...so it will hang around longer than expected, even with just all evening showings (split with CU for example, once Cars 3 comes out - it's not like Cars 3 will need late showings)...

MT

1. POTC5 - 28.2%

2. WW - 21.5%

3. Baywatch - 12.6%

4. GOTG2 - 8.1%

5. AC - 5.2%

WW has seen some great gains today but I really hope it's at #1 by the end of the day. MT's #'s freeze pretty early in the night so it probably just has a couple hours left.

Worth remembering that Fandango has a much larger share of domestic ticket sales than MT.

That doesn't really make a difference though with percentages.

Unless it's Boston skewing things wildly with it's weird obsession over Black Mass.
