Pretty good...not great, but definitely on the good side...

Why is Spider-Man "pretty good" at -33% and Apes and Valerian catastrophic at 36% and 38% respectively? Would seem to me that all the movies had significant drops for Thursday, especially those with more than 30% drops.

I didn't call Apes or Valerian catastrophic, but Apes was off 52% from previous week, so 44% vs 52% is a pretty big number...especially b/c Apes previous week daily drops were really not good, so it's a bigger drop from a worse starting number.

because daily drops are not as significant as weekly. Wednesday drop from Tuesday isn't as important as Wednesday drop from last Wednesday. Apes -36 from yesterday is actually - 52 from last Wednesday. But SMH is only -44 from last Wednesday. So now you can see the difference.

WW has a terrific -26 (Tue-Wed) and - 29 (Wed-Wed) hold.

Ok. I am somewhat of a novice at this. I see now. Thanks!

Eh... Could be worse. (See Apes and Valerian). Will officially pass Amazing Spider-man unadjusted today.

EDIT - Whoops... Guess it passed it with that number already yesterday and officially with that number there. So, officially, highest grossing Spidey unadjusted since Spider-man 3 a decade ago. Should be able to pass Amazing Spidey adjusted for inflation as well eventually here.

Still on board of the 3:20 train leaving for succesville

Spidey is stabilizing so that's good. The reason I harp on Apes because it's opening wasn't that good, it needs above average legs to get to a decent gross. So yes the legs have been crap considering that. And yes, the competition is partly to blame. I have no doubt that Apes will be a damn good movie to me but that doesn't mean that the word of mouth is good.

At least you can be as loud as you want. Should be a good experience.

I hate watching movies alone because it's too cold. I had that experience twice (watching Shaun the Sheep The Movie, and a brazilian movie) and I was freezing.

I've never watched a film all-alone (closest would be The Incredible Hulk or Looney Tunes: Back In Action with only a few people in the cinemas), but I can understand the complaint. Theaters can get really cold when there are less people in them.

Yup legs have been very bad relative to the previous 2 movies. Rise had 3.22 legs and Dawn had 2.87 legs. This is looking at about 2.4 or so legs which is a big fall from the first 2 movies. I don't know why this fell so much

I have not seen Apes yet so I don't know how it ends exactly. However, for those of you who have seen it, was it even possible to end the series in a crowd pleasing manner? There are two warring sides with the winner claiming superiority, by default, on the planet. Either one side wins, both sides lose by wiping out everyone, some sort of peace is achieved or the war continues in perpetuity. The second movie made peace seem like an impossibility so crafting an ending that would satisfy most/all moviegoers was simply not achievable.

Regardless of how well made a film is, if the general public doesn't like the ending of a trilogy, the film is not going to perform at or above expectations at the box office.
