Sounds like Clooney has pretty much retired from leading roles, can't say it's much of a surprise since the last time he was seen on screen was Money Monster three years ago.

Chris Abbott would be a great Batman ngl..

I watched all of it. The entire 5 seasons. It was legendary. Now I am taking a medicine for all the side effects it caused from his trashiness called Chernobyl. Shit is AMAZING.

Are you excited for God Lindelof's Watchmen on HBO this fall?

saw a filmcritichulk article being passed around about endgame and the hulk's characterization in it. haven't heard from that guy in a couple years. click on it and the first three paragraphs he's explaining why he's called filmcritichulk next paragraph starts with some "the character of the hulk was created in 1962..." shit. still no one edits that guy's articles huh?

Thought this would be interesting data to figure out: how would the current top 50 highest grossing films worldwide fare if they were ranked by the combined force of their actual gross + highest peak in the chart. Because a lot of people talk about how hitting a billion dollars is kinda banal nowadays, so I felt like doing this almost as a half-baked inflation parameter for worldwide grosses, to figure out how to billion or near billion hits from past decades compare to this decade's billion or near billion hitters. This is what it came down to:

  1. Avatar - 2.788 billion + #1 peak
  2. Titanic - 2.187.5 billion + #1 peak
  3. Jurassic Park - 1.029.9 billion + #1 peak
  4. Avengers: Endgame - 2.489.6 billion + #2 peak
  5. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King - 1.120.2 billion + #2 peak
  6. Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace - 1.027 billion + #2 peak
  7. Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone - 975.1 million + #2 peak
  8. The Lion King - 968.5 million + #2 peak

  11. The Avengers - 1.518.8 billion + #3 peak
  12. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - 1.341.7 billion + #3 peak
  13. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - 1.066.2 billion + #3 peak
  14. Avengers: Infinity War - 2.048.4 billion + #4 peak
  15. Furious 7 - 1.516 billion + #4 peak
  16. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon - 1.123.8 billion + #4 peak
  17. Toy Story 3 - 1.067 billion + #4 peak

Expanding this list now to the top 50 highest grossing films ever DOM + including inflation (based on unadjusted + adjusted average rather than just inflation alone, to put every movie in as fair a comparison as possible, given how movies from decades ago would have their grosses obviously balooned up - albeit the peak is still based on unadjusted gross.... otherwise, Gone With The Wind would be the sole #1 peak, sans any movies that came out pre-1939):

  1. Star Wars: Episode IV, A New Hope - 1.033 billion + #1 peak
  2. Gone With The Wind - 1.011.7 billion + #1 peak

If you like humorous, still a fan level, take at things, Brisbee really is a great read.  He's a lot like Dave Berry in many ways, but as a sportswriter.

His takes right now are mostly focused on the Giants, so that'll probably bore you.  But on general interest stuff he's one of the best in the biz.

This topic on a Joey Gallo home run. for instance, was sheer poetry and brilliance:

It was about a majestic home run... IN A LOSS.  And the things Brisbee talked about there resonated deeply with this decades long fan and speaks in many ways why baseball is so great.

And that really is what Brisbee does.  Talks about the absurdist nature of the sport as someone who appreciates absurdism truly can.

How bad is this final GOT season already ?

The news that the next Star Wars films will be helmed by the GOT guys is met by fear and despair ...

So how bad these episodes are ?

If I trusted the Internet , I d say a big part of the GOT fan community is having a very hard time with the conlusion of their beloved saga so far.

That Woody Allen movie with Timothee Chalamet shot almost two years ago and was shelved permanently by Amazon after Allen's controversies gained attention again will be released in September and October in certain countries. Have to laugh at how filming for it began around the same time shooting New Mutants concluded and yet it will still somehow see the light of day at all well before that movie will.

Hear me out, U2 from 1980-1991 is a good band, right?

Yeah, even though my favorite song of theirs came out in '93, but it was pretty much all down hill after Achtung Baby.

Why wasn't his career over in 2014? Or earlier?

It seems that the two guys did not actually want to do their best work and give the series a satisfying ending, but were desperate for the series to end and move to other work, and hence the hack job of the last season.
