I dont care if someone disagrees with me or thinks I'm a stupid SJW libtard or whatever, heard it all before from people I like, but I've had vocally lordmandeep on ignore for like eight months and dude keeps apparently quoting my posts and shouting into the void about how much of an out of touch liberal I am. Shit is kinda pathetic b. Go back to defending Trump and pretending its just you "giving voice to the other side" or whatever.

btw this is from the beaver's wikipedia page. strong objective box office analysis.

Quote

While critics were impressed by the actor's performance, audiences seemed to stay away due to the ick factor of seeing Gibson on screen.

Haha...I told him my story and he was still suspicious but liked that I was a brahmin (the priest class). And he told my wife she's one because she choose's to be. (Ouch)

What's also weird is that the real story of the battle is actually even more inspirational. In reality, after he's injured by shrapnel, he continued to aid soldiers until his arm broke.

The way they got is bible back also if I remember correctly, the movie was made with a lot of limitation days/budget wise.

How in the hell does Daddy's Home have a $70 million budget? That thing should have cost no more than 35.

Above the line was probably above 35m, 70m is pretty standard for a Gary sanchez productions:

Nov 10, 2017 Daddy’s Home 2 $70,000,000   $0 $0 Play

Ferrel, Wahlberg I imagine 15m each on a sequel like this, McKay, Morris and Anders 2m or more each,  Gibson/Cena, etc... plus your 30 something million production. People do not work on a price for a cashgrab sequel.

My wife and son saw DH2 tonight. I asked how it was. She said:

“It was cute. Could have been funnier but it was something to do.”  Lol

Pretty accurate statement.

Just passing by to say Hacksaw Ridge is a bore, sometimes odious movie. Garfield is annoying no matter the movie he’s in. I was quite surprised he didn’t bring Silence down too much.

The first 45 minutes or so of Hacksaw Ridge were fairly cringey, honestly. I don't remember the exact scene, but I remember the audience laughing at something about 15 minutes in that definitely didn't look or sound like it was supposed to be funny. Fortunately, the 90 minutes that follow are excellent. Somehow, despite having Mel Gibson at the helm, it's the rare overtly Christian movie whose Christian message actually feels powerful and genuine rather than ironically judgmental and smugly self-satisfied.

But back to weekend box office: I saw Murder on the Orient Express this afternoon and at least half of the 300-seat auditorium was filled. Take this anecdotal story with a grain of salt because I was the youngest in the crowd by probably at least 30 years (i.e. an audience probably more stereotypically likely to attend matinees), but Friday afternoons are usually pretty dead - even on holidays in the case of films not aimed at kids.

I'm not saying you are doing this but when there's a movie out there that is aimed at adults and not teens or young adults, some people just assume that's a bad thing.  I think it's great that there's a film that an older generation can go to and enjoy.  Not everyone wants to see men in tights or flying men with iron suits.  Sometimes we just want a good old fashioned adult themed movie to enjoy.  I think Orient Express is going to be that film.

Hansel and Gretel seems  like it doesn't fit in there
