LOL for Man Who Invented Christmas. I'm still looking forward to it, since my family and I watch the 1951 Christmas Carol every year. But damn, that's an awful start.

Wonder going over 40M for the 5-day would make my heart melt

So is JL's ceiling at this point MJ2 numbers ($281m DOM)?

300m is pretty much gone.

Man, who could have seeing this coming after how huge WW was this summer?

JL: $122,351,643 after 6 days

Mj2: 136,225,792 after 6 days

MJ2 made 76 in is thanksgiving 5 days, JL is expected to do around 63/64, it could be 22+m behind by monday without showing reason why it would have particularly better legs to regain much ground over time.

Ceiling could rapidly become around 265, Coco/Wonder will be high quality competition for family audience.

Disney has been on top dom from march-may (BATB-GOTG2). Prior to that, top dom was between Fox and Uni. And only WB took the lead after IT's big success.

So "dont act like you've (WB) DOMinated the yearly DOM, because you've been playing from behind the whol e time".

And you know due to the enormously poor reception and box office JL is doing, Disney has locked #1 dom and ww for 2017 (and for 2nd year in a row, and high chances of being so in 2018 and no doubt in 2019).

Also Disney may get the 3rd biggest dom year after Disney 2016 $3B and Universal $2,44B 2015. Today Disney is at  $1,655B + 50M Thor3 + 200M Coco makes $1,9B. Disney may need 550M more to get the #2 biggest all-time yearly dom. TFA made 652M in 14 days. TLJ is gonna have 17 days left in 2017 (that counting Thor 3 or Coco doesn't make more than 50+200).

Lots of verbiage there to justify being well behind with just a little more than a month to go. Happy Thanksgiving! :)

265 with the same dom/o.s ratio gives JL 795mill ww with a good chance at 800mil.

Not what any of us expected but after the disaster that was JL opening weekend I’ll say 800mil ww is more than a respectable outcome.

You make it sound as if you're winning since January started. For what's worth, Universal led the 1st two months of the year, and then it was all Disney until I believe September, when It pushed WB over. Disney led from March through August - 6 months, aka half a year. For WB's lead, it's been 3 months, which is a while, but definitely not a "long while" or "the whole time". So.... "you've been winning for a long while" is debatable, when you equate that to the actual length of a calendar year and how long WB has actually been winning.

So if I had said "long time" instead of "whole time" you'd be OK with that? OK, consider that done. Happy Thanksgiving!

WB has to be kicking itself for putting out JL when they did. The kids they would want are going to Wonder and Coco (both of which are getting a better reception than their own studios dreamed of). The adults they would want are going to see real, legitimate movies. And the people who want a good superhero movie are stiil going to Ragnarok  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They should be kicking themselves for making a crappy movie.

You're right but I can also see why they did it. They wanted their big tebtpole in that pre-thanksgiving slot, as they did with several of the Harry Potter movies in the past as well as FANTASTIC BEASTS last year.

Any of the years WB didn't have a movie there, we saw either a Hunger Games or Twilight movie there. In short, it's a popular slot for a tentpole and for the most part said movies have been able to coexist (ie. Disney has also historically put a Pixar/WDAS movie on the following Wednesday).

Mostly it comes down to how bad a movie it was.

If JL had the opening weekend of let’s say 150 and it earns a 2.5x then JL could’ve grossed 375 dom.

If you give it the same dom/O.S  ratio it has now then JL WW total could’ve looked like this 1,071bil.

Initially, I thought it was a good release date but now  have come to understand it wasn’t.

Dceu films needs the summer to see their full potential and I hope WB realize this soon.

If they are gonna do a WW and JL2

movie in one year then JL2 should be its summer release.

It almost seems as if they want the films to

be front-loaded.

It’s not like the film is crappy it just can’t stand up to the competition that it is faced with.

Thor,Wonder,Co-Co .

I can see WB looking over Wonder but I can’t see them looking over Co-Co and Thor.

Some tried to tell me how bad this was but I didn’t listen.
