And, yes, that insipid Franchise War thread should be a prime example of what I am taking about when it comes to refusing to reexamine beliefs.

So, can't say I agree @Noctis. :)

My dad has worked in academia (college professor), in government (federal), and in business. He always said that while government is rough with the politics, it was NOTHING compared to the blood-sport that was academic departmental feuds. He didn’t really know why, but his theory was that the stakes were low overall (really tough to get someone fired or demoted) so everything turned into a battle-to-the-death over principles, especially if it was small.

The business world was a cake-walk compared to the other two.

Yep. Heard it often.  Popularly known as Sayre's Law: The smaller the stakes, the bigger the fights.

I think self-identity and the like comes into it as well.

I agree with you.  :)

I even told Tele and a few others yesterday that I shouldn't say anything until I see it a second time.  I was so mad yesterday that I had no choice but to express that.  But I think you are right.  I need two viewings to process it all.  :)

Not at all strange though. I managed to feel like a serious heel by going around numerous threads with TFA on the Star Wars forums spewing all of these issues I had. What made it worse was when I saw the movie a second time I was literally fucking wrong about key plot points! I was so tired the first time I missed things that were clearly explained. I swear I was thinking the same thing, wow I should be disallowed from commenting next time until I see it twice lol.

I will be honest, this is very different from the idea Lucasfilm or maybe most people have, but I don’t really enjoy the first viewing of any SW movie that much. Don’t get me wrong, I loved TLJ right away, but from the start my heart is racing, my mind is full of questions, I’m thinking “am I still liking this?” every 5 minutes, and just in general it feels awkward. That second viewing is pure bliss when I already know what happens and I just watch with calmness and appreciate the WAY the story is told not WHAT the story is.

I’m off to 3:40 pm TLJ IMAX. I wouldn’t be seeing it today (usually take Sundays off, just like god but of SW viewing counts lol) except my friend is coming from out of town the next two days to game and hangout so I doubt I’ll see it again until Wednesday.

Only 33% of TLJ's audience was female? That's shockingly low.

Hopefully that will turn around, b/c that's key to legs...

EDIT: And now I see low 40's...still hoping it gets to high 40's (and some extra under 18s get added, b/c that area was actually the audience that I think is awfully low:)...
