Google trending for the last 24 hours shows GA DC, MD, NC, MI, SC, LA, VA, AL, TX in that order.  Never seen anything like that....CA almost always #1..for this #11.

Then those states have the most woke black populations...in that order. :P

I think I would rather it stay at 192 than be so close to 200m and still miss

Deadline had this number Saturday morning:

“Currently, Saturday should see around $61M which puts us at these figures”

The film ended up doing 66.

They now project it to gross 52 for a 195 total. If they’re off by 5m again..   :D

Mowgli feels like a obligation for WB at this point. With it being delayed constantly, and the fact that the recent live-action Disney version is still fresh in people's mind, I don't think it'll do such great business.

WB isn't to blame, I think the VFX aspect and Andy Serkis' directorial debut (ironically he shot another movie in the interim which ended up being his directorial debut) was appealing but clearly it's taken a lot longer than they expected. I think WB will take it on the chin if Mowgli underperforms and allow Serkis to direct say Animal Farm.

Near future movies that could break a month’s OW records

Jan - Glass? As Astra?

Feb - Black Panther just did it

March - Captain Marvel?

April - Shazam! ?

May - Infinity War Part 1 or 2, Aladdin?, Detective Pikachu?

June - Jurassic World 2? (Probably not)

July - The Lion King

Aug - Untitled DC/WB Film?

Sep - IT Chapter 2

Oct - Halloween, Venom, First Man

Nov - Wonder Woman 2, Frozen 2, The Grinch?

Dec - SW Episode 10

Other potential records that could be broken this year or next

Animated OW and DOM: The Incredibles 2, The Grinch, Frozen 2, Toy Story 4

R-Rated OW and DOM: Deadpool 2, IT Chapter 2

Memorial Day: Solo, Aladdin

Lowest Grossing 7th entry to a franchise: Transformers 7

Highest Grossing Movie to never take the #1 spot: Wicked

I think January is safe as is March, I don't see Captain Marvel capturing the zeitgest but it'll a very healthy OW.

I think either Frozen or Wonder Woman 2 will break the November record. Grinch should do well but I think it'll be more leggy compared to SLOP but with a lower ow

DC at #2, wow, just wow. And Michigan over Texas and Illinois is pretty amazing too. Do you know where FL, TN, IL, NY, AR, and MS stand? Who's the lowest? Wyoming? Ugh, those Wyomingans.

Sorry meant MS not MI.  Mississippi.

TX - 10, IL - 12, NY - 13, TN - 14, FL - 15, AR - 27

-SD, MA, MO (#51) round out the bottom 3 right now

Thanks! By MO, surely you mean Montana and not Missouri right? No way would St Louis let that fly.

Oh I know. They should have waited for Serkis to direct a few films before given handing him the keys to a big budgeted tentpole however. That and even if the film is good, it does feel like a case of coming out "too late".
