Because it isn't

Pacific Rim is awesome and incidentally a lot better than Shape of Water. And del Toro didn't even have to steal anyone else's ideas to make Pacific Rim.

Yes, TLJ was one of the things I completely opposed Empire on. I maintain that word of mouth was truly mixed for that movie. It wasn't just the work of trolls. It wasn't going to do TFA numbers but it could have - and should have - done better.

I'm sorry but this did the mech vs monsters coming to end the world trope a thousand times better. Tel Toro said in a reddit ama that he "loved" anime and he goes on to say he's never watched NGE (pictured above) despite loving anime and making Pacific rim... you would think he would have used it as a case study or something. Also tree respect on the Avatar and name.

Oh yeah, WOM on TLJ was absolutely mixed.  I gave up that battle a long time ago.

If I had to guess, I'd probably raise the Audience Score to around the low to mid 60s or so over at RT and inflate the grade over at IMDB by a point or so. Still mixed, but not high 40s mixed, if you see what I mean.

BOT will be BOT. Plus it’s hard to say much more that hasn’t already been said about BP’s phenomenal run. The 50 Shades thing at least got EmpireCity to share valuable knowledge and brought on some laughs.

Another $3.5M would make it Sony's biggest film domestically.
