Having an embargo end months before release means nothing, having it end 2 days before release means nothing. The only *red flag* is a day of embargo. 

Wed embargo is unusual, that's the day before. Two days is a bit more standard for CBMs. The bigger question mark for me is that the only reactions were from a few unknown bloggers.

First Shazam is on my list of Movies I Enjoyed But Never Want To See Again. They probably shoulda struck when the iron was hot when it comes to a sequel. a 4 year gap without a Shazam appearance anywhere has done them no favours.

Very apt comparison there, because this movie is Dark Phoenix on crack. It's a leftover storytelling dead end from a regime which no longer exists, being released by an indifferent studio which couldn't care less and has far more pressing matters to attend to. This movie being buried is no doubt a ploy to prevent the average Joe from being confused once the impending reboot hits.

There are plenty of successful movies for ten year olds. The problem is just incredible lack of any interest for this one. It makes you wonder if the first one was even well received at all, it did so little by the genre standards it felt there's nowhere to go, but up, but it seems it's going ever lower by far.

As there should. The sequel to a reasonably well received film should not be tracking this bad. This is trending to be an early candidate for freaking bomba of the year.

I'm pretty sure there's more to it than marketing and DC reboot. Good marketing wouldn't give it a respectable gross with variables like this.

IIRC first shazam was reported at 100 and this should be "more expensive", Levi said something like 50M higher IIRC but not sure that's entirely reliable. Either way this is losing money for sure with these numbers.
