Why the fuck is Frank Darabont involved in this?

 

Perhaps he needs money or he thinks he can add something to the story.

 

Either way his involvement is somewhat of a crushing disappointment.

It is a prequel. One more good thing about Darabont is that he can keep the cost down. The Mist was made for less than $20 million so if they can make this sequel for around $125 million then I don't see why they can't make money off it. $170-180 million is usually not a good idea for most fantasy movies unless you can get Angelina Jolie to play one of the leads.

Is this even necessary?! But with the removal of Stewart then this has no way but go up in terms of quality.

If you deleted Stewart from the first film, it'd be a better movie.Sure, it's make no sense...but it'd be better.
