Live footage of haters who try to attack a $1.5B grossing cat film by labeling it as an underperformer.

And this is where those of us who were around back then realize how little todays people understand about why TLK got big to begin with.

BATB, the first animated film to get Best Picture and largest grossing in one run ever at the time was HUGE. If and Aladdin had failed, TLK wouldnt have been anything in comparison. And Lion King has followed BATB in everything every step of the way including Broadway and intro to DVD and BluRay.... gosh the fact that Disney themselves so BATB as a more worthy DVD release 20 years ago when planning must shock some as Lion has always had to wait for the new medium until after Snow White and BATB.

Now some of that is tongue in cheek, but damn some of yall are hard heads.

Yeaaaah, not going to trawl that thread to see just how many of them actually predicted 3b's WW or close to it in there.

TBH, the Circle of Life *is* the BEST part of the movie, and I *did* have chills watching it.  They should have just stopped there.

IF TLK would have been your Toy Story 4/Incredible 2 type of reaction, how much do you think it could have made ?

Might have been impossible to do that really.

It opened to 190 million and will still go on to make 360+ more. Bad word of mouth is Justice League BVS (sub 2.0 legs) Fifty Shades of Grey, Valentines Day, Cloverfield etc. Also wow Watchmen had horrific legs wow

Hmm, nah Justice League had a 2.44x.

Um, Valentine’s Day opened on Valentine’s Day, what did you really expect, that’s like Friday the 13th. Cloverfield opened on a holiday weekend, the sequel still did great business.

Anyway:

Solid opening for Once Upon a Time, best ever for Tarantino?

Amazing hold for Crawl.

Very steep drop for Lion King, biggest drop ever for a Disney remake.

Maybe it’ll increase majorly with actuals like last weekend and avoid that “record”.

Sub 2.0 sucks. Vday no matter the day sucked. Justice league did horrific I forgot just how bad the opening was. Literally lost money.

Crawl over 3x this weekend with big theater cuts coming. I don't see it. Too low for TS4. Stuber harsh but possible with current drops. TLK possible for sure.
