This movie will seriously disappoint in the Box Office. After peaking with Inception Nolan has been on a downward trend since TDKR Interstellar Dunkirk Tenet each criticized louder then the preceding with Tenet being borderline bashed. This movie just screams out of touch from a commercial perspective (all white war biopic in 2023?) and if it as weak creatively as his previous ones then he’s in for a rude awakening. Unlike Spielberg Nolan seems to be one trick pony and that trick is getting old packaged in subpar movies.

 

also if Oscars is the goal he can kiss that goodbye too because just like Dunkirk it will be ignored despite historical for obvious reasons.

Nobody in the real world cares about it being "all white", get over it. This will only flop if people do not have realistic expectations for this.

 

That said the return of Josh Hartnett is easily worth $10-50m opening weekend

On paper I'm not sure what exactly the broad appeal of Oppenheimer is but I'll wait until we know more about it. That's Nolan's problem, not mine.

Dunkirk is his best reviewed film lol. And ignored? It was his first director nomination.

lmfao Dunkirk was total dud at eh Oscars. Winning sounds editing Oscars for  a movie like that is a L. It literally got 3 technical low level Oscars not even Score or Script which are considered the most prestigious of the technical categories.

It was nominated for Best Picture and Best Director. It didn’t win either of them, but when was the last time a major studio blockbuster won those categories?
