Halloween Ends actually looks pretty strong to me.

At quick glance, it seems like ticket sales are doing pretty well.

Is a $50 million OW possible? Less competition, IMAX (and other PLF's) and being marketed as the big finale.

Sure, it's possible. Kills opened just under that @ $49.4M and ticket prices have gone up about 8-9% since then so if it can maintain the same audience it'll reach it. FTR though, I'm thinking $40-43M.

So, Black Panther 2 set vs other supers set in 2022 at my theaters...

At my Cinemarks, both are giving BP2 the widest opening set for any super this year.

1st Cinemark is 7 screens.  2nd Cinemark is 6 screens.

For comparison, Black Adam is getting 3 at both...and for starting presale set, no super this year got more than 5 screens at the 1st Cinemark and 4 screens at the 2nd.

This is to say - unlike my thoughts on Spidey last year where it was a VERY late change to get that movie enough showings and screens OW at my Cinemarks...BP2 will probably not have seat availability holding back its presales...and it may not have much seat expansion during the week before open...

I mean Wakanda Forever in my opinion will likely skew more GA friendly than say the average MCU nerd wet dream as say the Avengers series, CW, NWH and MoM, so I’d not be surprised if tickets were subdued until the last two weeks like Venom 2 or even the first Black Panther. I think over Love and Thunder is a good benchmark.

Black Panther is more than a month away from opening (and also really long too, 161 minutes is a pretty big commitment) so I wouldn't expect insane sales out the gate. No Way Home went on sale less than three weeks before it opened when the average person has an idea of what their schedules in the near future will look like.

I don't think in terms of fanboy rush a week or two make a difference. The people who rush to purchase as soon as tickets go up don't need to know what their schedule will look like, they have already cleared it.

Maybe, though I imagine most of the fanboy rush would be looking at the IMAX/PLF screens specifically. Which are selling great near me so far FYI, but regular screens have barely moved anything just giving them a quick glance (a contrast to when Spider-Man was filling up every single show the moment it went on sale).

No T'challa might be the reason. Also multiverse of madness has damaged MCU a lot imo, people were so hyped for multiverse but they got nothing out of that. They shouldn't have used word Multiverse in the subtitle.

Guys, it's only been 90 minutes. And honestly, I don't remember any crashes for Strange and Thor, but the warning bells weren't being rung there. So why do it now? Please relax, because the universe doesn't need this annoying Monday morning quarterbacking.

I don't really know how it's selling so it wasn't meant to be a negative or positive remark on it, just that I think fanboys will want their tickets asap regardless of how early they go on sale. It's the more casual/GA side of the fanbase that will wait until closer to release.

I've been thinking for a while that this movie might pay for the sins of Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder both being so polarizing. I know everyone is laughing at Variety's recent prediction for the movie's domestic total, but I personally think it might happen. We were all sure the former two movies I pointed to would be billion dollar megahits as well, and we all know how that turned out.

I will commend Marvel on the marketing here, because from the looks of it they've definitely learned their lesson from Multiverse of Madness. They hyped that up to be far bigger than it actually was. We're a little over a month out from this movie and we still don't know what the actual plot is. A far cry from them idiotically spoiling Professor X and unnecessarily raising fan expectations.

Also it appears that a number of theaters have Black Panther booked for their PLF screens through Thanksgiving weekend so it looks like the PLF/IMAX footprint for Strange World (and I guess Devotion too, since it screened in IMAX at TIFF) won't be very big.
