Mcu fandom is no where near the starwars fandom.

Oh it'll get there. It used to just be MCU haters that were whiny and annoying, now I'm noticing fans acting the same way about the movies. It happens any time nerds invest way too much of their lives into a thing, then start to not like said thing and don't know how to handle their disappointment.

For the record I'm talking about the real hardcore fans. I'd have no idea that phase 4 has been sub-par or "not leading up to anything" or whatever if I wasn't online. Most people aren't bothered.

i think the director probably agreed with you that it'd be an easy job that's why he made it on autopilot.

Honestly, Waititi is why I was ringing the bell for this to not be $180m+ when everyone was sold in the beginning.  I know a ton of you love him...but when he was in Free Guy, I didn't think he showed he knew how to restrain himself as an actor, and I figured he'd struggle to do so as a director if he got free reign...and usually when you hit your 1st Thor big, they are gonna give you more rope to hang yourself on the 2nd...

Oh, trust me, you're not the only one who is seeing the parallels.

May not repeat exactly, but it does rhyme, to partially quote the famous phrase.

I think the best thing that the Marvel Fandom has for it is how large it is. If you want, you can avoid things you don’t like. There are shows you can skip over. Or you can just kind of watch them casually, but not really get super invested in. Having a large umbrella means that people can kind of find their hiding spots, and they can stay there. Unfortunately with Star Wars it seems like it always comes back to the same original trilogy. And so that’s what makes it a little more difficult to maneuver around that fandom. It sometimes makes it feel claustrophobic, and gives reason for people to fight with each other.

Anyway,

Love and Thunder was pure fan fic crack. Not quite the Nirvana of the gay pirate show, but I will definitely be inserting some characters into my Sims game, and rewriting some of our fanfiction to adjust for the awesomeness. Love Taika. Love Himbo Thor. Only thing I needed more of was Val. More Val please.

So was targeting DS2, like @StormbreakerXXR. As you can see 2.15 is average, 1.95 for weak ones and 2.35 or so for great ones. SC and BP are dragged down by mons, but seasonal effects mostly disappear.

He 100% can restrain himself as an actor if he cares about what he's doing. I mean he genuinely gives a fantastic performance in Our Flag Means Death and he's been excellent in his own films before when he's given a shit about it (obviously he was playing his own father in Boy and it shows that he put a lot of thought into the performance). When he loses interest or is just there to collect a paycheck, he will phone it in and just go an extra as possible I suppose. I think you can even tell from his Korg voice it sounds a bit different in L&T than Ragnarok? He sounded much more like himself in L&T like he could barely give a shit to do the voice anymore lol.

You are not wrong, the spoiler sub on reddit is the biggest mess ever, if you like something is bad if you dislike something is bad, if something is connected is bad, if something is not connected si bad, they don't know how to react anymore.

Points very well taken (which is why I'm interested in the upcoming Acolyte - as you well know)

Of course, you're also the one who has told me all about the various nasty civil wars in Marvel Fandom, dating back well before the actual Civil War, so you might as well just replied with:

and you would have been just as correct.

(still, as I said, point very well taken)

Well, obviously. It’s not fandom if we’re not fighting with each other. It’s basically a sport at this point. And certainly when you have movies like Civil War, or Doctor Strange, where everyone has a favorite, and the favorites are all together, that’s where the friction and silliness happens. Because everyone needs to pick up their shield and Stormbreaker, and protect their favorite. Instead of just being like that’s a cool point. I’m gonna go off into my corner and not fight you about this.

you didn’t like love and thunder? Cool.

we don’t need to talk about it, or we can find the stuff we both agree on. You know, Kind of like how I didn’t talk to you about Kenobi out of respect for our friendship. 😂😂😂😂

I am a huge MCU fan and SW fan and I don't think MCU fandom is anywhere close to as toxic as Star Wars, nor is it even really on the path to get there. There is a difference between criticism and toxicity.

Can't wait to see how people insist an opening over the previous movie is somehow an underperformance

As you know, DS2 was an underperformance in that it opened to $187m domestic after the first one did $232m domestic total.
