For me:

Watched in theaters (10): Puss In Boots, M3G, Cocaine Bear, Scream VI, Shazam 2, D&D, Air, GOTG3, ATSV (2x), Trans ROTB (expected: Elemental, Barbie, Oppy)

At home: Dance with Somebody, 65

Maybe watch eventually: Otto, Plane, Knock at Cabin, AMWQ (got 20 mins so far…), Creed III, Mario, Mermaid (kids went w/o me), Boogeyman, Flash, Indiana Jones 5

Not for me: John Wick 4, Evil Dead Rise, Fast X, No Hard Feelings, Insidious 5, SOF, MI7

I watched Glass Onion a month ago at home. I highly recommend it. Rian Johnson is a master of the craft/

As someone that has a hard time getting into anime and is very much an western animation kind of guy, if you ever need to watch one anime series in your life, please consider watching Cowboy Bebop. It’s the coolest shit.

Doesn't look like it's that great, although John Cho is always good

Oh, we watched that already. Wasn’t counting it as part of “this year”, even including December releases

So, to give this thread pages, here's the movies I've watched for the 1st time in theater so far in 2023...

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (yes, it's 2022, but I watched it this year)

Plane

Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Dungeons and Dragons

The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse

Sound of Freedom

Mission Impossible 7 Part 1

Mummies (kid summer movie series)

Paws of Fury (kid summer movie series)

So, through mid-July, I've got 10 movies watched in theater (and more on streaming).  I also have tickets already to 2 more movies - TMNT and Lyle, Lyle Crocodile (kid summer movie series).

I admit, my phone, online deals, and my Cinemark sub have taken my (at most) once a month habit and slightly elevated it.  I mean, this month, I've done 4 movies already in theater...

It's been a good year of having some decent options. It got a little light in stretches, but I feel I haven't gone too long feeling that there's nothing I wanted to see.

From January onward

M3GAN

Missing

Antman

Cocaine Bear

Creed III

Dungeons and Dragons

Mario

Air

Polite Society

GOTG3

Blackberry

ATSV

T:ROTB

Asteroid City

Indy 5

MI7

Oppenheimer up next. Will likely do Barbie one night next week.

Like I said, a good year. I've had films I've been able to take the kids to, ones for date night, ones on my own, and one with friends.

The first movie I watched in a movie theater this year was actually last month, The Little Mermaid. It genuinely has been that kind of year...

Then M:I7 (loved it so much) last weekend and the next one shall be Barbie on Monday (none of the few still available times for this weekend in our small town works for us).

Obviously, there's no proof to this, but I think cross-pollinating Nolan stans with an established franchise is not a great idea.

It's my theory that just attaching his name to MOS is how we ended up with Snyder Bros.

I'll not be taking any questions at this time.

It gave Man of Steel (and Snyder) an appearance of high art.  So not only could they enjoy their comic book film, but they could pretend they were better than everyone else too.
