Several Thursday shows were allegedly sold out today, e.g. every show at the AMC Sunset Place (for sure not true) so it would have been worthless to count. And the Thursday presales are well covered by other members anyway. So the Friday presales today.

Insidious: The Red Door counted today for Friday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 174 (6 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 48 (4 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 2 (8 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): no showtimes
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 20 (4 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 42 (9 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 312 (12 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 6 theaters: 598.

Comps (all films counted on Wednesday of the release week for Friday): The Invitation (6.8M OW) had 167 sold tickets,
Prey for the Devil (7.2M) had 207,
Smile (22.6M) had 399,
Scream VI (44.4M) had 746,

M3gan (30.4M) 506,
Old (16.9M) had 262,
HK (49.4M) had 1.254
and - not the best comp - The Conjuring 3 (no Thursday previews, day and date release, 24.1M) had 1.074 sold tickets.
The Boogeyman (12.4M) finally (= on Thursday for Friday) had 193 sold tickets.

All comps (except for The Conjuring 3 which had other conditions) point to 25M(+) at the moment.

I think they might have lifted the Walmart+ membership requirement a few days ago as when they first went on sale Atom was enforcing a Walmart+ membership login when one got to the ticket purchase page but wasn't doing that as of last night (or right now, for that matter).

Not gonna actually test it by going through a complete ticket purchase, mind.

(FWIW, the banner ads still say "Walmart shoppers see it first - 3 days early!")

THANK THE LORD!!!!

THIS IS NO LONGER AN ATOM EXCLUSIVE AS IT IS FINALLY FOR SALE ON THE CINEMARK WEBSITE!!!!

(also has a Fandango listing, but no showtimes popping up locally)

Maybe those anemic Sunday sales were starting to spook them a bit. YiBe40t.png

It's like paid yearly Amazon delivery for Walmart...and Walmart throws in some free Paramount + to truly make it like Amazon +.  I don't have it, but lots of folks do...

The way everything is connected is so funny. I got a YouTube premium membership because my kids watch nursery rhymes and stuff and the ads are intrusive and in some cases just wrong like political ads. The YouTube membership gave me free Discord nitro which gave me free Walmart+ which gave me free Paramount+. I have no idea how these places make any money anymore.

Well, yeah I suppose it makes sense that one could have bought it through them proper — but for a very long time the only actual movie ticketing site selling this was Atom.  Other corp sites had listings, but no way to buy it.  Might have flipped the switch on them a few days ago and I'm only noticing now of course, as I wasn't checking the Cinemark corp site each and every day.

(Still isn't at any of my local Regals near as I can tell though I'm now gonna double check to see if they [or any of my other non-Cinemark locals] finally got it)

Am I missing something? I thought Blue Beetle and Aquaman 2 were still in the DCEU timeframe and that Gunn's Superman kicked off the new DC universe.

Both the director and James Gunn have gone on record saying that Blue Beetle is set in the DCU, with Superman: Legacy being the first actual DCU film, whatever that means. So ehh… sort of like The Incredible Hulk?

Do the great reviews coming in change your mind on this? I feel like there’ll be a great review bump

Wasn’t factoring reviews in at all, just how some audiences are more likely to buy on certain days of the week. But having a review bump on T-6/T-5 instead of usual T-2 probably enhances that distorted comparison

Again, just want to caution that however good comps may look by ~T-4, it may not hold given atypical preview release day

Sunday sales have been pretty anemic, but that could just be because no one uses Walmart+

maybe I’ll see a big bump after todays run

I suspect if there is a big bump it'll come whenever (if) the Fandango sales go live.  Admittedly I have noticed some sales the last couple of days (+9 on 7/3, +4 on 7/4) so it's possible that they went live in the last couple of days on the non-Atom corp sites and I didn't notice until today.

Still think the Walmart+ membership requirement was the biggest factor, but if that is indeed gone there should be a nice rise in Sunday sales as the weekend approaches.
