looks like a DTV sequel. Just has this cheap look to it

Wonder if they will eke out a profit with this or this is another Hunstman: Winter's War

What were you expecting from Stephen DeKnight? He is a TV director for a reason...Daredevil works because majority of it was written and conceived by Drew Goddard. Somehow he left the project and Deknight took over.

Feels more like a sequel of Atlantic Rim. China will pay for this.

Looks like they learned nothing from PR1's marketing meh-ness. The gravitas, tempered and silent spectacle of Godzilla's promos is missing again. Loud-mouthed and verbose trailer with too many zooms and edits along with an overbearing soundtrack.

Frankly some shots were cool, especially the ones not in daylight. But just the nature of the trailer makes it look like a B/C movie.

Not much of a difference? Yeah, right...

This is not about your blah blah blah uninformed opinion, this is about fact.

Is it worth reminding people that the CGI isn't finished? Nah, probably not, I doubt it will be much better than what the trailer shows anyway.

Looks like a fun albeit forgettable time at the movies to me and a bit of a let-down compared to the first one sadly.

To be fair, China's bo for PR is why this got green-lighted in the first place.

PR was 102 Dom + 112 China + 197 OS-China = 411m ww.

If PRU is 75 Dom + 125 China + 125 OS-China = 325m ww,

then looking at what the studio gets as a % of theatrical (55% from Dom, 25% from China and 33% rest of OS) :

102*0.55 + 112*0.25 + 197*0.33 = 149m for PR on a 190m budget. 149 = 78% of the prod budget

75*0.55 + 125*0.25 + 125*0.33  = 114m for PRU on a 150m budget. 114 = 76% of the prod budget

Unless the budget is closer to 100m than 150m (source) either PRU would need to get to 100m Dom and/or really explode in China (~150m) and/or hold better in OS (~150m), else this one will be a similar proposition as PR.

Looks just like a cheap version of the first film with Transformers sprinkled in. This unnecessary fan wankery is why Thomas Tull got the ax. Just because you can make a sequel with half the budget doesn't mean you should.

Quoted for truth.
