300M WW here we come, maybe Jlaw s backend starts at this threshold.

Someone posted on another site that they believe this is already in that range.  I can't find the post, but it says that it hits production plus P&A somewhere in the $200-$250M range, I can't remember exactly.  If that's right, then she's probably getting a check.

Depending on whether you believe The Numbers, or BOM, I think TN is correct myself, it only needs about $3.5M to hit the 300 mark.

looks like we are getting another silly mini expansion this weekend.  1 showtime per day at the earliest matinee.  It has DIRECT competition with Life.

That's odd, I can't imagine what Sony is thinking.  Maybe they want to see Life get it's own audience first, creating some WOM, and then after a week or two do some double features with Passengers.

Very interesting dailies over the w/e.  From the enormously higher Saturday PTA I gather they paired it with Life for a drive in double feature.  They're going to have to do it again to hit $100m any time soon.

2017/03/24 -     $39,013      506    $77   $99,528,233 94
2017/03/25 -     $338,168    +767%   506    $668   $99,866,401 95
2017/03/26 -        $20,291     -94%   506    $40   $99,886,692 96

I think that they didn't track theater count daily correctly and just used the number of theater that played it the weekend, in the multiplex that I went that weekend Passenger played only the Saturday.

They put this in an extra 400 theatres? Why? Something fishy is going on.

I suspect some TV deals and what not are not linear but work by box office range, you can see a bit step in expected TV revenues around some mark, 100 million must be one of them, that would be why studio tend to push movies over those round number when they are close, it is worth loosing some money 4th walling it if needed.

That makes sense.  Was it double billed with Life at your theater?

they are expanding it to reach the 100m milestone. Not uncommon

Sony even has experience with this before with Bad Teacher

It's not uncommon but this is at least the third largish re - expansion which isn't usual, especially considering the low PTA.  They have to be giving theaters a heck of a cut or maybe as Batnack suggested they're  Four Walling it (paying theaters for the space in order to show the film).  Still, it hasn't reach SPECTRE levels of brazenness yet.
