The Interview | Limited Release on December 25, 2014

Sony is a mess. How can anyone in their right mind claim that this was a publicity stunt ? Sony just wants to wash its hands off the movie as fast as they can and move the fuck on.

Yeah if this were a publicity stunt it'd literally be the worst publicity stunt in history. Increased awareness for this movie but turned their studio into a laughingstock

It's amazing that what is essentially a stoner comedy with Rogen and Franco may turn out to be the biggest movie industry related story of 2014.

I like how anything Rogen touches is a stoner comedy, even though there's no weed or stoner humor in most of his movies. This one included.

More like one of the biggest movie industry related stories ever.  Not much tops a stoner comedy getting a foreign totalitarian regime to coerce a devastating cyber attack on a mega company that spilled tons of embarrassing information + e-mails and almost got the movie pulled/censored until the President of the US himself steps in to save the day by telling Sony and the theaters to grow a dick.

If it got released in theatres properly, I feel it would have made $70-$80m.

It's a fun movie, nothing groundbreaking or whatever but then why would you expect such from a Seth Rogen comedy about killing Kim Jong Un?

Now it's going to get bad publicity for being nothing special, which, of course, it never was. It's unfair criticism and they aren't going to make more money out of it.

The most notable thing about this story, is simply the awareness of cyber threats are now more real and forces the US government, if not all of them, to be more serious about its criminalization and how to tackle it. Everyone else got hurt by it to various degrees; chain theatres, Sony, Sony employees, indie theatres, the government etc.

This shit was garbage.

I liked the guy playing Kim Jong Un, apart from that the best way to describe this is by saying it's like how you and your mate think you're the funniest guys in town and should probably do stand up, only for you to get on stage and end up flopping.
