BABY DRIVER | Sony | From Director Edgar Wright | On Digital HD 9/12, DVD and Blu-Ray 10/10

Recommended Posts

My sister and her friend just said this was one of their favourite movies ever.

"Don't tell me it was just cause Ansel Elgort"

"NOOO like I didn't even care about him like the plot was so good I was like grabbing onto the seat and I cried"

Two 16 year old girls love an Edgar Wright film. Huh.

Was kinda disappointed with this. It's pretty fun but not on the same level as most of Wright's other work

I have yet to see this, but this is definitely his most commercial movie so maybe he curbed his natural instincts on this one. I say good because it is doing well. An out and out Edgar movie would have been well...extremely niche. Previous BO performance of his movies are there to see.

Not gonna lie, Tomato Law...and absolutely nothing else...brought me to this one and I was not let down at all. Bites off about half a dozen genres to chew at the same time, while somehow managing to acutely avoid the regurgitated mess it could so easily be. Worked on every level for me. Surprised it possessed such a strong beating heart underneath all the sleekness too.

Just got back from this, thought it was pretty good. I seriously thought that was Nick Frost cameo-ing as the diner cook, looked it up and nope, not Nick Frost. Was I the only one who thought that?

I didn't think that it was actually him, but I absolutely thought it would be a role he could have cameo'd as

The fact that this will only open here in July 27th with a ridiculous translation (Em Ritmo de Fuga, something like The Getaway Rythm) pisses me off to no fucking end.

July 20th for me - it's killing me. It's my most anticipated film this year and everyone else is talking about it :(

I have to stay away from reading about it too much too because spoilers.

I don't think this has direct competition for the rest of the summer. $80m dom, perhaps?

It has a better chance of finishing with $100M than $80M. A comparison to this is, "This is the End" where it did not have as strong WOM but tougher competition (Man of Steel, WWZ, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2). If it's around $97M by the end of August, I'm sure Sony will do everything in it's power to push it to that mark by re-relasing on Labor Day weekend alas TITE. Plus, many theaters are doing drive-in double features with Spider-Man Homecoming, which may soften its drop this weekend.

C'mon Baby Driver fans.  Beat my likes from the SMH thread and I'll use my points to see Baby Driver next week when it opens here.

You've got about 14 hours.

You're way behind.

Any Baby Driver fans out there?
