I just think China prefers Marvel movies. And that's not really a bad thing.

It's still going to get around 100m, which is still pretty good.

Not true. If we are looking at the Marvel brand alone, and not just Disney Marvel Studios....
The Dark Knight Rises beat Amazing Spiderman despite Batman Begins and Dark Knight never appearing in China. And this is a direct comparison as they were released together on a weak release date, and ASM even had 3D and IMAX 3D tickets to boost box office (and China loves 3D at that time)... Therefore Quality is still key. If Justice League turns out to be amazing, eg: Rotten Tomatotes 85%+, IMDB over 8, well then I would bet it can beat a lot of Marvel movies in China.

I think this movie was just too deep and convulated for fans in China who are not that familar with Batman or Superman.. or DC. I doubt anyone even know that was Flash travelling back in time in Bruce Wayne's dream to warn him of Superman... the easter eggs which were dedicated to Comic book fans failed to touch general audiences, and that is not just limited to China but to Fans worldwide.

Hope Zack Synder steps back and let someone better direct Justice League.

This was Warner Bro's Chance to actually make DC big in China and everywhere else but Synder ruined it.

OS-Ch opening is $196.9m

Man of Steel's OS-Ch total divided by adding up all OS-Ch openings together gives a 2.78 multiplier.  BvS needs 2.54 to hit $500m.

Plus $105m China, plus $385m domestic = 990

So it broke world record for highest opening in superhero movies of all time?

Excellent! I thought AoU was higher!

Most Marvel movies, AOU included, don't open in every territory at the same time contrary to BvS.

They usually start releasing the movie overseas 10 days prior the domestic one while China and Japan are often delayed post the domestic release.

So all in all, it deflates the ww opening weekend numbers when taken during the domestic opening weekend.

I was doing the calculations of how much more distance BVS needs to cover for 1b WW.

BvS had a 424m WW ow.

44m came on Wed and Thu OS and 27.7m in Thu previews Dom.

So for the sake of the following calculations, the true-ow was 353m WW.

It needs 576m more to get 1b. That's 1.63x of 353m more or a global true-ow multiplier of 2.63x.

1b = 2.63 x 353m + 44m + 27.7m
