Yet BVS managed to create a huge hype and opened to $166 million which was insane. Who knows if they made Justice League as originally planned it wouldn't have outgrossed BVS?

1.99x legs. Not to mention it was the first live action Batman vs Superman film. If reviews and the movie was better for the Ga, it would have easily done $200M OW. JL would’ve done more or less the same Synder.

Still the first Batman vs Superman film and one of those two reached its 21st century box office peak with MoS,

+$400 from the previous attempt.

Reviews and this kind of movie being better is a 7 million dollar difference (Homecoming), not the guaranteed Wan billion of all the king's men and all the king's horses.

now that this MCU is over it's time to make way for the new MCU: the Mule Cinematic Universe.

Being an OG and still current VALIANT fan/reader I'm very curious and somewhat nervous about Sony's handling of Bloodshot.

Glad to see a large name attached to the lead in Vin Diesel. The Valiant Universe has lots to play with if done correctly.

Sad that Marvel is much more popular. Would have been much more fun to see two evenly matched franchises compete against each other. Instead we have a franchise that no one except Snyder cultists care about compared to the most popular franchise ever in Marvel.

WB really killed all interest in DC by hiring Snyder, while Marvel is competently run.

Don't see much change the coming years. Marvel has reached such high level of fanbase now that even if DC starts making good movies most people will just ignore the DC movies any way like with Shazam.

Endgame was a nice warm up act for the main event to come.... and its 14 months away. :hahaha:

Marvel will still be dominant, but I do see it slowing down for the next few years. Problem for the competition, though, is that the DCEU as a whole is pretty dead, SW is hit or miss, and Avatar is a wild card. This can go many ways, but Marvel is so dominant at this point that even if all their upcoming films for the next couple years only make half of EG, they'll still be #1.

Avatar II?

Avatar 2 is Dec 2020 which is closer to 18 months away...so I'm not sure what summer 2020 film @AndyK might mean.

The problem with BVS Is lots of people went to see it, but a lot of people did not like what they saw, and it caught up Warners with JL.

The "Snyderverse" was a fail with audiences. But the Snyder Cult will never admit that.

Whatever concern anyone may have had with Sony has to been alleviated after 2018 if not 2017.

Bloodshot is a hard one to fuck up, but another Hellboy situation is always possible,

WB will continue to make DC films, it won't make as much money as Marvel Studios but they still make loads of money as evident with Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Shazam! will likely get a sequel as well, Joker is a wildcard but I think it will be very successful.

Superheroes are the modern day westerns and as long as they continue to make money, studios will still produce them in their droves.

There is no chance in hell that the movie would’ve opened to $200 million, even if it was universally loved. Bad word of mouth affects a movie’s legs, but if the movie is hyped enough, it wouldn’t have any significant effect on the OW numbers. People just weren’t all that hyped for BvS to begin with. It sucks to have to admit that, since I’ve always been more of a DC person than a Marvel person, but the truth is that because Marvel did the shared universe crazy first, DC and WB never had a chance of matching them.
