Best Picture predictions-2016!

Maybe overreacting to globes sweep but llland could honestly make a run for tying the record for most wins with 11. Picture, director, actress, screenplay, cinematography, production design, costumes, editing, sound mixing, song, score... doesn't seem unrealistic to me.

It's possible, but I still see Editing going to Arrival and Screenplay to Manchester. WGA will tell us more on the latter at least.

That mere possibility is just mindblowing

I would say that there is a real/huge chance for La la Land wins in 7 categories: Picture, director, actress, cinematography, sound mixing, song and score.

I am feeling stronger competition in Editing, Costumes, Production Design and Original Screenplay. Let's guess it wins two of these categories. It would mean 9 Oscars!!!

I'd say Picture, Director, Cinematography, Editing, Sound Mixing, Song, Score, Production Design and Costumes all range from likely to pretty much locked, while Actress is a toss-up (I don't think Portman is out at all, and now there's a very slim but still a possibility of Huppert too), and Screenplay still likely goes to MBTS. I think it gets somewhere between 8 and 10 statues.

This could be one of the very few years with no nommed movie over 100M once nominations are announced. With the expanded category, it only happened in 2014. There could be 3 movies relatively close to that mark (HF, LLL, and Arrival) before the 24th of Jan.

Anyways, this year potential BP movies are doing way better than 2014's. The average gross that year once nominations were announced was a pitty 25M

My BP lineup and their grosses before nominations

Arrival - 96M

La La Land - 85M

Hidden Figures - 80M

Hacksaw Ridge - 66M

Fences - 55M

Manchester by the Sea - 40M

Hell or High Water - 27M

Moonlight - 15M

Lion - 15M

That's 479M

53M per movie.

Okay this will be the first time since 2007 I saw no nominations before the Oscars are announced given the current predictions.
Edit: Forgot about 2014-considering I didn't see Hotel till the day of the Oscars and Sniper was released wide after the nominations were announced.

Not sure if I'm that interested in most of the contenders except maybe Hacksaw and Hell Over High Water.

Would love to see Sully get in-but I doubt it will now. I will probably see Patriot's Day on Friday.

Anyway-was going to do the Oscar nomination prediction game but forgot to put it up this year! I still could do it though...

Thanks to Hidden Figures' success at the box office as of late, I think it's got more of a chance at a nomination.

When it comes to box office, Hidden Figures certainly displayed it's Hidden Figures in terms of cash. (I'm sorry, the joke was too good to pass up.)

BAFTA rarely gets all 5 nominees correct. I think Grant gets kicked out since he made BAFTA.

I don't know, I'm looking more at the trend of the Academy's habit of not skewing that young in the male categories. I very much doubt we're going to end up with three under-30 actors (Hedges, Johnson, Patel) in one category and Hedges is the one who appears most vulnerable.
