And it still is great. This is still an entirely original animated flick, and while it would be disappointing for it not to overperform in a post-IO world, IO can be considered an anomaly due to it essentially being Pixar's redemption movie after years of shit.

A 65-70M opening would put it in line w/many other animated hits like Frozen, Lego Movie or Big Hero 6, and for something like this, that'd still be excellent. Shame that our perverted minds have been spoiled to believe in higher. I still have my hopes up :(

Variety is saying $18m.

I think Zootopia will go up with strong evening shows, LHF on the other hand should skew very old and so might be inflated by early matinees. I expect this to go down in the evening.

Sorry, what? You are expecting Zootopia to do stronger evening performance and London Has Fallen to do stronger afternoons?

What ? That makes no sense whatsoever.

...of course you are?

CJohn only operates two modes: blow the fuck up, or burn to the fucking ground. Someone needs to invent time travel and send him back to the 90s when the mid-level hit was all the rage so people can look at him funny.

They are obviously not comparing both films with each other. They probably compare Zootopia to Big Hero 6, which should have had inflated matinees because of the marvel brand and compare LHF to other recent Actionmovies or OHF and as a sequel I expect more frontloadedness.
$9m for LHF looks pretty hight to me.

I'm thinking it'll end up with $19.5-20.5 million for Friday.

Deadline, Variety and the others released projections far too early. They've already gone up $3 million and the day hasn't even finished.

Anything over $16 million is excellent considering it's an original animated film in March. It could possibly get a 4x-4.25x from its $60 million+ OW if WOM is phenomenal - especially with no competition until April 15th.
