Thank goodness In the Heights and West Side Story are already made movies cause otherwise I'd be inclined to think this was the movie that was gonna straight up kill the movie musical completely.

FWIW I did see the musical once and it really is shit that somehow ran on Broadway for nearly 20 years so the movie turning out to be a mess is among the least shocking developments ever. This looks so badly-conceived on every level from the design to the completely random casting (like did they pick these people out of a hat?) from the beginning that it automatically looks like a must-see though.
