I suspect it'll start with around $11M but find its way to a $50-60M or so total thanks to being a family-friendly musical over the holidays (even if it isn't any good, which is probably the case). This is one of the movies my whole family has planned to see over the extended vacation just because of that.

This is how I see box office run:

 

1st weekend - 10.8 million

2nd weekend  - 13.9 / 40.5 million

3rd weekend - 8.5 / 62.3 million

4th weekend - 4.7 / 70.1 million

5th weekend - 2.3 / 74.3 million

6th weekend - 0.9 / 76.0 million

 

So I'd say total will be somewhere between 77 and 78 million at it's best.

This film made the Oscar shortlist (of 10 films) for Best Visual Effects. 

 

On the other hand, its original song 'Beautiful Ghosts' did not even make the 15-film shortlist for Best Song.

 

I didn't expect either of these results.
