So Legendary possibly returning to Warner Bros will now make this a WB film?

Seems like it. Not really that surprised that Universal and Legendary are looking to be parting ways, since most of the films under their deal have underperformed or bombed (aside from the Jurassic World films, Krampus and Straight Outta Compton). I wonder if Skyscraper was probably the straw that broke the metaphorical camel's back.

Wanda is selling Legendary ?

Cannot find anything online about it.

Ah has a distributor:

Would be natural fit for Dune, would it be just as a distributor or taking a stake on it.

Most likely yeah. Would make sense considering they also put out Prisoners and Blade Runner 2049 as well.

That Thomas Tull is gone from Legendary might have something to do with Legendar possibly returning to Warners. Tull managed to totally alientate Warners management to the point where they were glad to see Legendary go, and Tull then quckly wore out his welcome at Universal (Universal execs really resented his claiming to be behind the success of Jurassiac World, when in fact Tull made no creative decisions and had little to do with the making of the film, the extend of Legendary;'s involvement was they were allowed to invest in the film.

An JW was not really a Legendary film. Universal had greelighted it and the creative decisions made when Legendary came on board, strictly as an investor...they put up some money, but had little to do with the making of the film. It was a good investment, but Thomas Tull head of Legendary then alienated almost everybody at Universal by claiming credit for the success of JW,when in fact Legendary was just an investor.

Tull had a rare talent for alienating his business partners at both Warners and Universal, which is a major reason, along with a string of  bad decisions, why apparently Wanda forced him out as head of Legendary in late 2016 . BTW it was Tull who greenlighted Skyscraper.

This is what the article said so they aren’t sure yet.

“Warners' previous arrangement with Legendary allowed it to cherry-pick the movies it financed. As Grode continues talks with Warner Bros. for a deal that would extend beyond Detective Pikachu, it is unclear whether it would resemble the previous Legendary-Warners arrangement.”

Haven't read the book but in the Lynch s movie, you clearly understand Herbert uses tons of religious references especially the Coran.

The Hero literarily  takes its people in a Jihad and well , not sure those themes scream 1B WW blockbuster in the making in our current world ...

Not every ac tor is right for every role, no matter how good an actor he may be. It's called "Casting".

In fact, in the film industry you have to be a good actor to get a screen test for a major role. Acting ability is a prerequisite, you won't get a test without it. It's the other factors they are testing for.

That is one of the biggest lies that I have seen on this website.

Current or not current, Dune didn't flop because of jihad. It flopped because it was deathly dull. Lynch tried to keep the stilted dialog from the book that made all characters remote and unrelatable and that backfired. Also, the book itself is overloaded with characters and subplots that are fine for book format but a nightmare for movie format. It's also rather slow paced to get to the point and paired with the director who makes everything slow...yeah. This is gonna bomb hard.

According to this article, Legendary Entertainment has teamed up with a prominent board game company to make a tabletop RPG based on Dune. I personally view any tie-in as a sign of faith and hope in the project, and this tie-in is one that would directly appeal to many people.

Arrival was a masterpiece and Call Me by Your Name kid is a real talent. Can't wait for this project.

I would be happier if there was a guarantee that the second film, covering the second half of the book would be made.

I am concerned that the film, even it it's good, will do a Blade Runner 2045 and more or less flop at the box office and Part 2 will never be made.

Probably. Unless WB doesn't want to do it. Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 bombed for them, so they could be reluctant to give him another big budget (though I still believe WB will end up distributing it),

Not sure if there was any update since, but the first talk was about a distributing for a fee only deal. So I guess they still need to find co-financier elsewhere (maybe with them but can be with anyone I imagine).

Bombed for Alcon more than for Sony or WB (apparently Sony was involved in the movie financing but not WB at all, they were pure distributor and that movie made little for it's budget but not so much he could not cover is marketing):

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/blade-runner-2049-losses-could-hit-80-million-producer-alcon-1055855

The studio is the first to get back any revenue in exchange for giving up a bigger slice of back-end profits. The deal is proving to be fortuitous for Sony, which in addition to co-financing Blade Runner 2049 is releasing it overseas. (The film is being handled in North America by Warner Bros. via its long-standing distribution deal with Alcon. Warners is not a co-financier.)
